Papa Murphy’s Take+Bake Pizza

I have time to write this review because I’m sitting here in the parking lot waiting for my order to show up in their system. What’s weird is that my app doesn’t show that I made an order, but my credit card shows a charge from papa Murphy’s for the right time and amount. The app really needs to show an order was placed or people will inadvertently order twice thinking their order didn’t go through. I’m not sure how long to wait before I try to order again, or just give up and go home. Lame.

Took me 10 minutes to change stores. Must hit Start New Order rather than Order. Have to press “custom” through 3-4 levels of menus to order a custom build your own thin crust with no cheese. The workflow repeats itself in a confusing way that makes you think it skipped the last thing you pushed. I got so lost, and I am a software engineer for gosh sake. The other papa pizza app is much easier to understand. For example, why would “Create your own Pizza” take you to a 3 item menu with (1) Create your Own, (2) Create your own Half and Half Pizza (Original Crust), (3) Create your own Half and Half (Thin Crust)? After choosing #1 and picking a size, I can choose Thin Crust anyway, but not if I chose Medium. Then I come to another confusing menu: (1) Recipe: No Customizations, Customize Whole, (3) Customize Right/Left. Huh? The first menu already had confusing options for half/half, and this one has right/left. And what does it meant not customize a custom pizza? There’s an “Add to Item” button that hovers over the bottom of the screen across all these menus. What “item”? One ingredient or the whole pizza? So confusing. I meant to have no cheese on one custom pizza and cheese on the other, and the app did the opposite, so the staff had to remake both pizzas. They were nice about it and said this often happens with the app. Taking a photo of my credit card did not work.

I’m not a baby calf so I don’t consume cows milk. Why is there no option to REMOVE the cheese from your pizzas? My local store told me there are a lot of people who do this, they just add their own vegan cheese before baking. Please give me the option to remove the cheese, it saves you guys money. Also, for people complaining they want to order the pizza on the app and pay in store......get real!! That would increase their amount of product waste so much, all just so customers could play games on the app. They’d have to remake pizzas for people who take forever to pick their pizza up, go to the wrong store, or throw away the ones from people who don’t show up. It’s almost 2020, if you have an issue entering your credit card number to pay for a product YOU are having made for you, something is wrong with you!

Let's you enter credit card info for cards it doesn't accept.. how about a notice that reads "Visa and Mastercard only ". BEFORE we type info wasting our time. Let's you type an email and password that you think will be your ID when you press Create Account... Nope you have to enter it all over again. How about a notification BEFORE the email and password that reads... "Click here first if you need to create a new account" Lastly, there's a lonely slider that says " Rewards and Specials" after you enter account info, what is that? Are you asking us if we want rewards and specials in the app, or are you asking us to allow emails that contain rewards and special like spam? Not clear at all! I’m assuming this is an early version and these things will be corrected soon, other than that it’s a fairly clean app, but wow this was more frustrating that it needed to be, and a lot of my time wasted.

I think we will get our pizzas elsewhere from now on. This app is confusing, finding where you enter coupon codes is near impossible, and our Papa Murphy’s staff was condescending to my wife when she went to pick up the pizzas and tried to explain the confusion on the app. Plus they will put an email in your box EVERY day as soon as you use the app. Very annoying. Poorly designed app + rude live service = I will find a better way to bring a new type of pizza into my house. Probably would have given app another chance if employee wasn’t so unhelpful.
