App works. I can monitor and adjust my oven temperature and timer. Even start it preheating if I need to get a head start on something before I get home. A few ideas for the developers (if your watching) Timers: phone/app timer should alert me at the 1 minute mark, not when it’s done. If I’m at the other end of the house a little advanced notice would be nice (the onboard oven timer does this, why not the app? Oven temperature setting: why can’t I program a recipe profile? Like cooking a turkey- roast at 525 for 30min them turn down to 300 and then let me monitor the internal temp with the built in probe. - let me pre-program scenarios like this and even save them. Stove top monitoring. App says its on, but that's it. What burner? What is the burner setting? Remote operation lockout - kid safety. Program for an oven heated Sous-vide. With the probe monitoring a water bath allow me to sous-vide in the oven. - look GE guys - get creative and I'll update my review

I’ve been using the app since we installed the double ovens a couple of years ago. The newest version of the app while useful has several bugs and some lack of functionality compared to earlier versions. The most lacking functionality is notifications. It use to send a notification when preheat completed and when cooking timer expired, it now sends no notifications. If there’s a way to turn them on I can’t find it in the app or in iOS settings. The most annoying bug is the “policy change notification”. When you first start app you hit accept and app runs fine. If you leave app and come back it again pops up the notification, however if you accept it then pops up a “network error” box. Only way to go back in is to kill the app and restart it. Very annoying.

This is the worst-designed app I have. Read the reviews, and believe them. Here are some of my own experiences: I installed it new about a week ago, certainly followed all the directions to control my double oven, and got everything to connect successfully. I use the oven mostly for broiling. Notifications? The only notifications I have EVER received are that the timer was turned on and off (nothing about cooking use). The timer use is also the only thing listed in History. I can turn the Bake functions on and off remotely, but why can’t I access the Broil functions, or even the oven light? What if I left the house for vacation, and left the broiler and the oven light on? Can’t learn anything about the light, and I would obviously get no notification about the broiler. (The broiler DOES show up in Status, BUT ONLY IF I THINK TO OPEN THE APP AND LOOK THERE!) This is not even worthy of being a Beta test release. Haier/GE should be embarrassed.

Look, I do not like GE appliances. My (now 2 y.o.) home came with GE Café appliances, and frankly, they’re all (DW, microwave, cooktop) awful other than the double ovens. Like, I literally hate them... So when I say to you “this app was the lone bright spot for me,” I want you to know where I’m coming from. I REALLY liked this app and the functionality it brought me. But then some update killed notifications, and I just figured it was par for the GE course. So when I saw others here reporting success with the notifications. I’d tried everything else, so I finally deleted and redownloaded the app (and re-registered it with GE.) So, now I seem to be back to where I was. Notifications work again and I’m basically thrilled with the oven again. So if you’re having issues with notifications, try that. I can control the oven, get notified when timers expire, etc. It really changes how I use and view the ovens. Lone issue: why do I set the timezone of the oven through the app if it can’t automagically change the time for daylight savings? What net connected device can’t do that these days???

Update I reloaded the app to see if anything had changed and it finally has scan to cook technology! Yay! The app worked and seems much improved! Thank you Doesn’t work, oven says it has scan to cook technology, but there is no way to scan using this app. The app asks for the model number every time a try to use it. I cant believe GE would put this out and promote it for the appliances when it clearly is not ready to use and it doesn’t seem to be a priority to fix it because all the reviews are the same for more than a year. Very disappointing!
