discovery+ | Stream TV Shows

I love dplay but over the last few weeks there have been to many problems with the really channel, again tonight I can’t watch the Osbournes watching jack & Katrina in the Shanghai tunnels due to restrictions, it’s getting very of putting, hopefully you can remedy this & get it back to the great channel it is.

I find this app hard to review. I actually use it a lot, but there are some flaws, every time I start to watch a show, it automatically defaults to showing subtitles... not my choice & there’s no option for offline viewing. I like the fact that there aren’t loads of ads, I really don’t mind watching a fair amount as I know the content has to pay for itself. What I do find annoying is that there are so many series unavailable from the particular programme/s I like to watch (Wheeler Dealers) as I’d love to be able to access all the episodes pre series 9. It’s the same for quite a few other programmes and some seem to have disappeared completely , so maybe I should count myself lucky.

Looks have been updated but functionality has tanked. Loaded this new version of the dplay app having used the old one and its quest predecessor. First off quite a few of the series on the old app are no longer available, I should have been recording them on the hard-drive as this app is only holding them a few weeks. Secondly I have just finished watching Fantomworks and it went straight into the next episode locking me into the ads screen for several minutes. Not impressed! Every other app, including the old one gave you an obvious countdown and the opportunity to close the stream even if you hit the ads. Might be good for revenue, but not for viewer retention. Finally we are back to the old problem of the picture freezing and the audio continuing. So one star for reduced content, reduced functionality and faulty playback. I hope they get these issues fixed although I am now going to be recording the programmes on the hard drive as I cannot trust the app. Sorry.

Downloaded the app yesterday to try, and I was excited to be able to watch some spooky paranormal programs without waiting till late at night. Sadly, the (Unexplained: Caught on camera) program on the Really channel section was working fine last night, but as of today, without any updates, is now displaying what looks like a dark ad window which you cannot get rid of, without closing the app. This basically makes the app totally useless, as of now for myself. Haven’t tried other channels, hence the extra star since they “may” work.

Not a bad upgrade. Unsure why we needed to download another app instead of a general upgrade like normal lol One thing that’s weird is there’s an unneeded extra page to view all episodes of a programme / series. Tap a programme, shows 3 episodes, then a view more button for no reason to view all episodes. What’s the point?! Lol. Just show all in the first place lol
