Wordscapes Uncrossed

I very much enjoy the challenge of finding words - it helps to find words knowing they come before and after the words you find. Despite what others think, there is still the challenge and a lot of thinking involved. Strongly recommend this game to all!! It becomes difficult because you have to recall the words you used after you've been away. All in all, good clean fun!! I've found only a few words that I don't know. However, too many words, that I've come up, are bonus words and not the words being used.

First off, I do love this game, as well as the other variations. It’s a great time-killer. But an issue for me is that at level 258, I am presented a three letter puzzle (ELG) with two three letter answers - (spoiler alert) LEG and GEL. That’s at level 258. I don’t think one should be getting puzzles suitable for a 6-year old child at level 258! I would hazard a guess that there are a finite amount of puzzles built (roughly 250?) and that once completed, you start them over again. I’ll let you know what happens @ Level 500... UPDATE; now at level 2095, which was two words - ECHO and HOE. So even after over two THOUSAND levels, you’re still at about a fourth-grade level. It’s still a time-killer, but I wish it became a bit more challenging as one goes along. Similar games seem to have solved this issue, even those of the same developers - but here we are.

I used to play the original Wordscapes all the time, but ever since the introduction of hints in the form of rockets and bees and arrows, with all of the buttons cluttering up the screen, I got turned off to it. Wordscapes Uncrossed is untouched by that as of this review, for which I am grateful. I am hoping that this time the developers will keep it this way, so I will feel comfortable enough with this app to purchase the removal of ads. Still a great game that is simplistic and fun, still a great job that the developers are doing.

This game has been an excellent time-passer for me. It’s an addictive word search app that I can’t put down. There are many puzzle games that are much like it, but none seem to measure up to the phenomenon known as Wordscapes Uncrossed. There were times when my inability to find a word would frustrate me, but the beautiful backgrounds are literally visual therapy! Much thanks to the (beyond awesome!) developer for creatively fashioning such an incredible game. You guys have newly defined the meaning of ‘word search’ and brought it back bigger and better than ever. 🤩

From a fun perspective, all of these games are well designed and quickly engaging. But the longer I played this and it’s brother apps, the more they really irritate. There is no rhyme or reason solid words from the English language score in one round, but not in the next. A huge vocabulary actually works against the player, as the better the words you choose, the more they are either rejected or deemed “bonus words” and chew up play. As with too many App Store apps, it’s all about prying in-game purchasers from the player. Think Apple isn’t encouraging this? I knew Steve Jobs, and he’s rolling in his grave. Boycott games that exist only to milk you with in-app purchases! Boycott this app.
