Wilderless

I was watching alien last night when they open the airlock doors and suddenly there’s all this wind and dust, and I was thinking I want that feeling of being safe and cozy inside while the elements rage outside just like you mention:) even like in a cozy tent with a lamp during a storm which is something another player suggested. It’s hard to make weather but penetrate through walls but I had it working in the castle in Vandgels and I’m definitely thinking about how to add that feeling to Wilderless:) you’ll be happy to know gender selection is coming in update 1.4 - it was in the original version and is actually in the code, but I want to give it its own update so i could make the customization screen as intuitive as possible because it’s going to give you a lot of options. I hate it when I write something long and lose it so I feel your pain:) I’m just glad you came back and left your positive review and the four star rating. I’m a solo developer and I don’t have resources to do marketing, so every star helps me be able to do more and reach more people, in addition to boosting my confidence and morale, so I really appreciate you did that and thank you 🙂 please be on the lookout - update 1.2 is almost ready which brings multiple languages and small improvements, and 1.3 will bring more animals. I have laid out a plan for the game and fingers crossed it will all go well, thanks In part to the support of players like you 😊

I like the cape gliding too:) when I’m making features I think what would I want to do and I like to fly in games so it just felt like a good way to add some more motion, and after some experimentation adding it to the double jump felt right. I’m glad you are a fan of my games and thanks for the recommendation - that plus a five star rating are great ways to help support me making games and it’s appreciated. I don’t have exact timelines for the updates, but I’m pretty much working on them non stop. The next update adds more languages, something I wanted so I can reach more people around the world, and also is the animal update which brings a bunch of new wild life and horse riding! And the one after that brings character customization. I have planned out about 10 updates and I don’t know if I can make them all work, but if I can tente are some really big surprises in store that I can’t wait to share. Let’s just say I’m trying to make this world something you can enjoy for a long time 😄 btw my real name is Robert - I cane up with the name protopop after Plato’s idea that there is a hidden perfect world behind ours, and this idea that there are the poppy colourful worlds that are prototypes of ours that we can visit :) thanks for everything and I hope you continue to enjoy exploring the game - try ice skating in the North or go far south, there’s some lovely green hills and forest by the ocean down there.

Thank you🙂 I love that you like the wilderness aspect of it. Exploration is the name of the game here and I try to make it expansive and varied. It’s the largest world I’ve ever created and it becomes lush and green far south and icy and snowy up north. It’s all about relaxing and being calm in nature and I’m glad you like it, and I’m grateful for the 5 stars because that is super helpful and appreciated :)

My first Wilderless review - thank you!! 5 stars is a really big boost for any developer, but especially for a solo developer like me because it helps me reach more people. I don’t have resources to do much marketing, so it is word of mouth that really helps me out, and I appreciate it. I have some plans for the game and I hope people like you will continue to enjoy exploring it.

It's cool that you mentioned dioramas because when I was a kid I used to go to the Manitoba Museum in Winnipeg and they had all these dioramas of early people walking across the plains and animals in jungles, and I would stand there and just imaging myself in those places. These are the things that inspired me in part to make virtual worlds today and to focus on nature and exploration:) I also do hope that the game can bring some comfort to people in quarantine and who are very stressed around the world, and I am happy you think its a positive experience for that. Thank you very much for giving me 5 stars - this is a great way to support independent developers like me, and it also encourages people, I think, to take a chance on an unknown game. I hope you enjoy the experience and explore far and wide - there are green hills far in the south, birch forests in the west, and icy tundra far north, plus if all goes well, more updates on the way:)
