Western Union Money Transfers

There is no easy way to copy the MTCN from the app. They used to have a share MTCN feature earlier, which is now removed. The name of the bank branch is saved but never comes up prefilled in the receiver’s bank details and causes an error. Using POLI as a payment option is good. But once payment is made, a browser window opens , takes you away from the app and re directs you to WU website. There is no confirmation shown. when you come back to the app, the payment does not show as being sent. Finally, why can’t the most frequently used countries be brought up in the list based on the individual user’s frequently used countries?

I used POLi as a payment option, my account was charged, more than 3 weeks later I received an email saying that this transaction was cancelled and I haven’t been charged. I go into my banking app and I can see that I was charged the amount and till today when I received the cancellation email, I did not receive this transaction amount in my bank account. Contacted customer service, they didn’t keep me on hold for a long time which is good but the rep was annoying and kept repeating “let me akusplain this”. Said that I will receive the money in whatever time my bank takes to transfer it to my account. A month and 10 days later, I checked the status of my refunds. To my surprise I have received only one refund and the other refund is still not there. When I went to my WU app, I found that the thieves at Western Union had removed all traces of the transaction from my account which they are yet to pay. Thankfully I had an email from them and my bank account shows that money was deducted, so with this I contacted them. They were able to locate the transaction but admitted that this transaction is not visible/missing from my end. One of the biggest & oldest remitters now resorting to stealing customers money to make money. What a fall.

Everytime I try to make a transaction the error c9999 comes up. When I complained about it, they said it will be fixed in 24-48 hours! Waiting 5 days after that but no response from them. I called again, they “Assured” me that someone will contact me within 24 hours. Did they? NO! Its been a month since then. Still not able to use the app and still get the error message. They then sent me an automated email saying I should go to an agent to make a transaction meanwhile they are fixing this. Well, if I could go to an agent everytime I wanted to make a transaction, I would have never downloaded the app in the first place. I downloaded it because I thought it is convenient and time efficient because I work 9-5 5 days a week (the only time agents are open here). To go an agent I have to go a long way which will consume half me Saturday (also most of them are closed on Weekends). I have contacted 4 times already in a month but there is absolutely no response or initiative from there side! They keep making fake promises of either solving the problem or someone contacting me. Also keep saying we are aware of this and it a “MINOR” issue which can be easily solved! Well, then why isn’t it solved yet? Highly disappointed.

I’d give zero, if I could. Couldn’t change the recipient’s country - stuck on Australia. Emailed Customer ‘Care’ and waited two days for a response. ‘Send a screenshot ‘. Yes, sure, and wait two more days? Finally got the app working and came up against the team who verify your bank account. I cannot believe that anyone in any form of employment could be as abysmally stupid as these people, so am forced to conclude that it was deliberate obstructiveness. Numerous emails and an entire afternoon wasted and I give up. Going to send the money via telegraphic transfer from my bank. Of course, I now have to wait seven days for Western Union to refund my money. Funny how they could take the money out instantly, just couldn’t do anything with it. Utterly useless.

I like this app but there are few things that WU can do better i.e. allow Using face scan for authorisation as I have tried many times and it never worked on my iPhone X’s. Second my money gets transferee to the overseas acc real quick but I always get an email that my money is on hold and I need to call WU which is very confusing and so annoying. Third,I always get 100 WU rewards point every time I sent money overseas but they always disappear as soon as I do another (second) transfer and they never get accumulated (if I don’t use the first credit) which is ridiculous. Hope WU can look in to this and make it worth for people using their app/service.
