Starbucks

At present have a iPad mini 1 with iOS 9.3.5 (my sources tell me is its last update) I use my iPad regularly for Starbucks ...I am now getting a pop-up stating I need to update...go to App Store just says "open" ...goes back to the Starbucks app all fine and dandy for a few seconds and as if by magic up pops the update page again...which completely blocks me out ....have deleted and re-installed which comes back saying I need iOS 10 or later "install a earlier version" which I do ..same outcome happens ..So my question is:- Starbucks can't you just put a "no thanks"for the update and that would get rid of the update page ensuring future use of the app ....I sure I'm not the only one in this boat..... Just stepping off my soapbox now.....

I’ve loved this app until about a month or so ago when it just refused to function anymore. It just began crashing constantly and was unusable. I’ve missed so many points using it and been unable to use the discount I built on it since then so have started skipping on some of my normal coffees to save money (I use non dairy milk etc so my drinks are always more expensive without the discount.) I’ve tried reloading and re-downloading the app but it doesn’t work. I’ve tried emailing support twice now and each time someone gave me a response but then didn’t follow up with my replies and I just got ignored. It’s really really disappointed me as I’ve really loved starbucks.

The app is beautifully designed and very functional. It’s easy to order ahead, using that service, and you can mark your favourites very easily. Geolocation is great as your card pops up and it’s easy to access from home screen. I love the ease with which all functions work. I would like it to show or flag up existing branches that are undergoing maintenance and therefore closed rather than not show them at all, as often I normally order ahead my Starbucks from one of the branches en route to work, but as it’s closed for maintenance I ended up driving near it thinking it might be a glitch in the app. Now desperately waiting for Siri Shortcuts to be activated! I wanna use Siri to order my coffee! C’mon Starbucks, get on with it!!!

The app has many good features like adding the card to Apple Wallet and paying straight from the wallet. It’s very efficient. But I find the long delay to update a purchase with a star a bit disturbing. I cannot see any reason why a purchase has to take over 2 hours to update you with a star. It is already a bit of high price to pay that we need 15 stars to get one free coffee when compared to Nero’s 9 stamps. Not to mention that one purchase of two coffees in my own cups is still one star at Starbucks while Nero gives 4 stamps! So...I expect the app to be supreme on all the rest...which in the updating respect it is definitely not. The order and pay and pick up in store also is a very good option but there again...Woking doesn’t seem to have this option, which could be really helpful to some 3,500 McLaren employees.

The app works quite well most of the time however I’ve had issues when trying to place a mobile order, the app has frozen on the pay screen and when trying to redeem my free drink or pay it says its timed out. I’ve even went as far as closing the app and trying again and the same error. Then a matter of hours later it works again. Also 15 stars is a huge amount of money before you can gain a free drink. Considering you spent at least £2.60 per coffee you’re nearing £40+ just for one free drink. So many other big chains offer more points per £1 which I feel is more justified. I’d be easier ordering a coffee, biscuit/cake, sandwich etc all separately
