PureGym

Good gym as it’s 24hours and suits me and many others due to work and family! However it’s been the same since it opened needs a massive revamp and more equipment! This gym charges the most in the area but don’t want to spend any money on new machines, Everlast gym is the cheapest in the area and have less gyms all round but have the best equipment but the times are not good otherwise I would still be there! Pure Gym have had so many complaints from customers but still don’t wish to do anything about it, as it’s all money money money...and not the welfare of the customers! They have so much space to add more machines and make this an outstanding gym, they have advised 2020 is gonna have massive changes so let’s see! Think you should start by dropping the price and stop letting more and more people join as it can get way over crowded.

So I joined Pure gym today and hit the road running,,,,,,went straight to my home gym ..... One of the main things I didn’t like at my home gym was the lack of staff for help with just the basics ! It was about 1300 in the afternoon so I would have thought there would be plenty of staff !!! Anyway regardless of this I did eventually manage to navigate to my chosen part of the gym . The app is really useful, after choosing a workout it gives all the instruction needed and necessary gym equipment needed , absolutely loved this , being a total novice to gyms I found this really useful. I do wish you didn’t have to pay £5 for the extra workouts !!!!!! That’s a bit cheap to be honest , but then I guess when you pay so little for the gym you got to pay for all the extras..... I have booked 3 spinning classes via the app with no trouble at all , and unlike some reviews have said I have been able to choose which calendar I save the dates to . I do think there is certain information that is missing which would be useful when first using the chosen gym , like for example , parking regulations , a map of the gym layout rather than struggle finding everything , and maybe more free workout sessions. All in all not a bad app and a pretty good gym .

This is the third year I am with pure gym and the first two years i enjoyed the morning hiit classes. Over the last months at Puregym Holborn ALL the classes starting after 8am cancelled and now all the classes start super early in the morning and finish by 8am...!! The new schedule is made in that way to totally fit people who start work at 9am have their lunch break at 12pm and finish work at 5pm.. I used to go to morning classes at 8:15am which means I would wake up at a reasonable hour and not like now where if you want to get into a morning class you have to wake up at 6:30 or earlier!!! I feel that your gym at Holborn stopped being inclusive and welcoming(unless of course you don’t do classes) to others than 9-5 people as ALL the classes are on the timeframe to fit their schedule. As said they finish at 8am then you have the classes on lunch break 12-13:30 and then after work 17:00-20:00. I start work at 12pm and it suits me to work out before work and I used to book the morning classes that ended at about 9am but waking up at 6:30am for a class it’s way too much..! I am sure I am not the only one who feels the same as I spoke with several other members who they enjoyed the later morning and reasonable hour classes...

There are a lot of reviews with new feature ideas. However there is one current feature that doesn't work properly. Once you book a class and 'add to calendar' you cannot change the calendar it gets saved to. If you try the app just crashes. Instead you have to save it in the default calendar then close the app, open your calendar then update it there. Please take a look into this bug! An even simpler idea would be to publish the calendar as a public calendar (and internet calendar subscription) - that way you wouldn't need to add it to your diary and therefore may improve turnout at class if they show in your diary with even less effort. (Ie. If you didn't add it to your diary it'll still appear in your calendar to remind you). My only other suggestion is have your instructors take attendance at classes through a tablet. It's pretty impressive how paperless/electronic the whole PureGym experience is - until you have to tick your name on a printed class list.

Every gym i’ve trained in since 1989 has owned a seated calf raise except Pure Gym Clapham. We have 4 leg press machines, finally got a rear delt/ pec deck machine after almost a year of my complaints and somehow during the change over from Soho to Pure Gym we lost our seated calf raise machine. Why? Now the staring calf raise is broken with no information as to when it will be replaced. I love my gym and always will but i have to point out things that don’t make sense. Pure gym keep adding new members but the gym struggles during peak times. We cannot continue to add new members when the space is confined. I also think it is VERY IMPORTANT to remind people not to take up an entire locker with one item of clothing and then leave it open because i remove them and lock my valuables in there. It’s only fair. Please also remind members not to come to the gym for a nice warm place to use their mobile phones because the number of phone zombies wasting our time bent over their devices is very irritating.
