I do like that it tracks all the things I bought it helps me be more aware of what I’m buying. I been studying nutrition since I got out of high school and I can tell you there score thing is total bs, I have no idea what it’s based on but it certainly is not accurate. I bought shamrock organic sour scream and it was telling me daisy sour cream was better. I bought Vea sweet potato crackers and they said Triscuts were better. And many other items I picked up. Some they were spot on about like the green vegetables and leafy greens but avocado doesn’t deserve a 100 score it’s high in calories and fat and although it’s healthy we eat too much of it and I think it should have a 90 to 85 score but not 100. Anyways the app needs help on that end but I do like the tracker and coupons that can be added. And the favorites list is worth it!

I downloaded the app and really like that my purchases were already loaded. However the point scale needs work. For example, Kellogg’s Nutri Grain bars and their 40+ ingredients rated better for you than a Blueberry Lara bar and its 6 ingredients (dates, cashews, unsweetened blueberries, blueberry juice concentrate, lemon juice concentrate, vanilla extract) and some popsicle rated stronger than both. It seems to be very generalized scoring and only a few key things are looked at to give one food a better score than another food, without looking at the total ingredient list. I didn’t keep the app because it lost a lot of credibility based on where it ranked some items that are terrible for you compared to other items that are most definitely better for you.

I think the concept is great and love the idea behind this app. However, as a nutritionist who works with low-income communities, I think it would be more beneficial to include why purchases are given the ratings they are given. As I reviewed some of my purchases, some of ratings and “better for you” choices I very much disagree with; all the more reason I think it would be helpful to explain why certain choices could be better or worse. This could actually be a great app for nutrition education, but falls short by not providing tools that would enable people to think about the choices they are making as they are shopping.

Good: - beautiful, simple, easy to use interface - well organized - integrated with Kroger purchase history - integrated with Kroger shopping list (can add items to list from this app) - entices user to reach higher (healthier) score Bad: - no landscape support for tablets - purchase history is buggy; items purchased 2 weeks ago till not showing while items purchased 2 months ago are; makes it appear the bacon I bought 2 months ago is affecting my score more than the healthier recent purchases—very confusing; refreshing the purchase history seems to shuffle my history with no rhyme or reason - no way to send feedback - Menu> More> About OptUP provides no data - my list of favorites is a mess with no way to sort or filter Cautions: - while not necessarily the case, some scores seem unrealistic; would be nice to have explanations for some of the scores I love this app and truly want to see its full potential. Not quite there yet.

ask user to change the rating

After last update all my shopping data is gone. My account section has right info. Says no purchases in last 8 weeks however I have shopped there at least 2 times a week in that time and scanned my card each time including just the other day and it still shows no shopping data. I see others have posted same thing and you tell them to call a phone number. How about updating the app instead of making everyone have to call your customer support. If this many people have lost their data it sounds like your updated messed everything up. Send out an update to revert to the old app before it was updated or else I’m deleting the app.
