Light Painting

I received the light painting wand as a Christmas gift. I was very excited to play with it, maybe take some cool pictures with this app. After a few attempts I quickly realized that was never going to happen. This app has to be the worst app I have ever downloaded. The idea is simple. You use your wand to create cool light images, even words, and the app will take pictures. What they don’t tell you is this app hates movement: ALL movement. You are supposed to set your phone up on a stand...good luck with that. Then make your art. If by some miracle, you have a stand, then you have to stand some distance away in order for app to see what you are doing correctly...in the dark. Again, good luck getting anything. And remember when I said this app hates movement? Yeah, all of my pictures looked more like creepy paranormal pictures than anything remotely like the images they show as examples. This app needs serious fine tuning. We should need stands in order to use it because that just isn’t feasible. As it is, I’m enjoying my wand as a cool flashlight since this app doesn’t work as advertised.

When I got the wand for this app it was on sale. I would not want to pay full price. I kept trying to get the perfect photo but after about a minute of use the light was flickering so it wouldn’t draw right. After five minutes the light is completely out and now needs new batteries. Total waste of money. The app makes my face blurry and it’s impossible to make your face look normal with the app. With the combination of the crappy app and the crap light on the wand your battery will die and you won’t get the photo you want. Great idea terrible execution.

I almost didn’t download the app because of the rating until I read the reviews. That’s when I realized that all the bad reviews are from people who don’t understand shutter speed and dos and don’ts when taking long exposure pictures. I wanted an app where I could adjust my shutter speed on the iPhone when I don’t have my canon camera or don’t feel like dragging it out. This app is perfect for what I need and does exactly what it says it does. I like that it has a timer so you can hit record and get away from the phone so it stays perfectly still. In some ways the app is better then my canon because I can use the front facing camera and see what I am doing. That helps when trying to do light patterns around a stationary object. I will recommend this app to anyone that loves playing with long exposure photography.

I am almost positive that you CANNOT add a filter or background so will you please add that because if you did it would be an even better add and product over all. The reason I want a background filter is because it it really hard to find a magical place to record so please add a background filter with the next update please

It would be cool to have a supplemental product with different colored transparent tips to make the wand not so bright and give different colors in your writings. We were trying this with our own items and were soon playing Pictionary with the wand. Very fun. Just using the wand with the bright light often produced blotchy spots.
