As a preschool teacher, using this application is very frustrating. We have small amounts of time during the day to input all the information for each child and this app does not make it easy. Buttons are too close together (ie. when trying to add a child to an event you accidentally exit the screen altogether.) The app freezes often and there seems to be no way to edit all events at the same time, so if I make a typo I have to edit each child individually, even if it was added as a mass event. Also haven’t found a way to delete an event that was added to the day by accident. We used to use Brightwheel and I wish we still did! We switched because it became too expensive and Kid Reports works with ProCare. I guess you get what you pay for though because by saving money you end up spending more time trying to use a clunky app. Developers, please make this app more smooth and add better features to make it user friendly before I go crazy!

The app seems good on paper, but it just isn’t. I spend more time looking at a tablet troubleshooting app problems than actually paying attention to my kids or the activities I’m supposed to be putting into place. The app is very glitchy, bounces kids from one room to another, doesn’t refresh when internet is lost, the portfolio is so difficult to work with because you can’t upload things for kids who are not signed in which means if I don’t get something put in immediately it probably won’t get entered at all. The name to face thing is really not helpful if you are unable to sign a child in for whatever glitchy reason so I think it only makes sense to have it if it shows you’re whole class roster at once and you only mark who’s there. I don’t know.... I think there are some okay things about the app, but using it day in and day out for every activity of the day.... it’s too complicated to use. Should be more simplified

1. KidReports totally misses the mark on the check in feature as there is no notification sent to parents when the child checks in. My partner and I switch off drop off duties and it puts my mind at ease to confirm our child has arrived among news stories of parents who forget to drop off their child resulting in child fatalities in hot cars. 2. Latency. The app takes significantly (on average 5 times) longer to load than our last daycare app. Sometimes I’ll log in mid morning, see some activity then log in that afternoon and the app indicates there has been no activity all day. 3. Features not deployed. I’m told there are features for parents to submit status’ before their child’s arrival. This is not enabled on our deployed version of the app, along with auto notifications with each event. I had to call corporate to have them enable this feature for me vice being able to access this on my own. 4. Look and feel. Overall just poor user experience. Navigating around the app looks like cheap development and is not intuitive. Very rough around the edges in places. Not clear what functionality different toggles of the main menu are trying (and failing) to provide the end user.

Has your childcare center switched to KidReports? I’m incredibly sorry to inform you that you are about to be seriously disappointed. Yes, the design is straight from the year 2005. And no, you won’t be able to find what you’re looking for without clicking around through a bunch of garbage. (KidReports, here’s a pro tip: try hiring some professional developers and UX designers.) But the worst part is the lack of arrival and departure notifications. This is a safety feature that should be a requirement of a MINIMUM VIABLE PRODUCT for a childcare app. That’s right, parents. You can no longer double check that your precious child has safely arrived at their school In the morning by checking this app. Sorry.

Our childcare facility recently switched to this app from a different one and its been disappointing. Kidsreport isn’t user friendly (from the parents perspective). For example, I can not communicate with the direct provider that is providing care for my child. I only have the option to message the director, which seems useless. I can receive messages from the teachers in my child’s room but cannot respond back. Not being able to communicate with the teachers is a a major flaw. Additionally, I cannot “share” updates and photos with family members, unlike the other app.
