Gregorys Coffee

Somewhat clunky app but does the job for the most part. When making a purchase through the app, the menu and frequently ordered items don’t show up unless you pick a store so while this is cumbersome, it makes sure you select the correct location first. You can pre load money into your account and purchases will deduct from the balance. An inconvenience and annoyance I have with this app is that deals or discounts will not show up when you check out. If a discount applies, it will show up later in the receipt received through email however there have been serval instances for me where a discount was not applied for whatever reason and I find that out later in the receipt. While they are a little more expensive than most coffee shops I like their food and drinks and find they put a little more care into making them. Some of the items on their menu are interesting and not your average drink or snack, such as Turmeric or CBD latte.

It took me way too long to load money. There were no first time instructions, FAQs, or a help tab. I ended up buying a gift card through the app but sending it to myself, so it comes in an email. Then it took too much redirecting to get it to load. I shouldn't have to go from the app, to my email, to my mobile browser, and back to the app just for $10. Then, I thought the money would reflect in the big green number but it gets put with "credit" which I assumed was earned rewards. So the green must track how much you've spent towards $50 and your next reward. This should all be shown this first time you download the app. I'm 23 (young and tech savvy) and in grad school...it should not have taken my 30 minutes to add $10 to the app.

I love how convenient the Gregorys app is! We sometimes know there is a reward (perk) ahead of time by checking the rewards tab (if we don’t check our emails beforehand). I also love how we know how much we have to spend to get our next reward. I only wish that the app informed us when our Tier status expires by including the exact expiration date directly adjacent to our tier number.

This app only works when connected to WiFi or cellular, and I take a subway with neither, so it’s really hard to order. You have to select your store every time, since you can’t save or favorite stores, and the only way save a new drink is to buy it. It would be nice if I could save my store and it would wonderful if I could choose a pickup time for when I got off the subway, so I could order when I’m above ground and have my drink waiting when my ride is over in 40 minutes.

It makes very little sense that I can’t favorite a store or that my neighborhood Gregory’s is not the first one that pops up when I try to place a mobile order. It’s very annoying that I have to scroll through a whole list of stores every morning to place my coffee order. Once I select the location, it brings up my order history so it’s easy to select my regular order but come on, let us favorite locations!
