GoHenry: Kids & Teens Banking

This really is such an excellent app to go with an excellent product! I really can't fault it at all. It's so easy to navigate and has helped me ensure I meet the agreed weekly pocket money with no problem whatsoever. The tasks are an excellent idea as my daughter gets an agreed amount of pocket money but is able to earn more by completing simple tasks each week that we agreed together. I like that you can choose to be the o e who ticks off completed tasks or allow your child to also tick off tasks as she does them. It shows your child you trust them to be honest but if it doesn't quite go as expected it us dimple to change to just the parent ticking off tasks/chores. Not only that but my child cimpmetes her chores with no complaints or moaning. She likes watching her money grow and it has taught her the joy of saving her money. An agreed amount each week goes into her savings account but it's easy to transfer to spending account shld it be needed for special circumstances e.g. Holidays I cld go on but I h e probably said more than enough already. All in all despite the monthly fee, thus card and app has helped my child and I build a stronger bond of trust as I was forever forgetting pocket money or not having enough cash to give her. It's well worth giving a go. You won't be disappointed.

I think GoHenry is a fantastic app. We’ve had it for over two years and haven’t experienced any issues at all. The kids love getting their spence and using their cards in stores and online. Family who live far away love the convenience of sending money straight to the kids accounts for special occasions. The customer service is excellent - my son’s card was stolen and the thief spent money on it within minutes. I called the customer services team and they very kindly arranged a refund and the card was replaced quickly. The only thing I would ask for in an update is the ability for siblings to be able to transfer each other money from their accounts. It is possible for a parent to transfer to a child and vice versa, but sometimes the children want to give each other money (when one bribes the other to do their chores haha!). Brilliant app and well worth the subscription fee.

The whole experience so far has been very good. I initially discounted this type of account because of the monthly fee of £3 which I think is expensive and sends the wrong message to your child (i’ve never paid bank charges in my life) but I guess £36 a year is money well spent if it teaches my child about managing money in the 21st century. When looking in the High Street for something that fits with a child in today’s world I was amazed at how antiquated the banks are, it’s almost as though they don’t want to nurture any future business! I have docked a star from my rating solely because of the annoying charity donate on the app that keeps popping up in both mine and my daughters app. Annoying because we actively support charities in our way and with regularity and i resent paying for an app that keeps asking me to donate - we teach our daughter about charity and she donates her money as well but it is our choice and direction as it should be. If I could completely remove this part of the app i would give five stars as everything else just works fine so far.

My 12yr old has had a goHenry card for 3 years and the 8yr old for 1 year and it's brilliant! My son managed to save over £100 to attend his comic convention and my daughter has over £100 for our upcoming trip to Florida!! It's taught them both to budget their spending, save for things that are important to them and my 12 year old is learning that you have to earn your money! He has tasks to tick off in order to get his money and my 8 year old currently gets a weekly allowance. The ease of the app means that I can add their birthday and xmas money by doing a transfer directly from my account ( which then gives me cash without going to the cash point!) and gives them complete control of their money without worrying about complicated bank log ins. The adore the fact they both had contactless cards before me and that they can go into shops and pay for their own purchases. I've told all of my friends about the app!!!!

You would be surprised how much a few pound here and there adds up. I didn’t realise till I added it up. I gave my kids a weekly budget which was for thing they wanted, they always have everything they need. They could add to this by doing house work but the budget always went out the window (my fault) and I ended up spending so much more over the week. Now they are in control of their own pocket money. The chores earn them extra pennies which can all be set up on the app. Different chores for different children and you can set the amount of pay for each chore. When chores are done they can be ticked off on the app. You can then either set to have this added to their regular pocket money amount or transfer as and when you want. Loading your parent account is easy/instant and I like that you can transfer money back from the child account to the parent account. If there is no money left then that’s it. Teaches them to budget and saves me a lot of money in the process. Card says No as my daughter put it. They can also save for something that is maybe a bit more expensive. App is so easy to use and your kids have their own log in so can check the remaining money themselves plus see what chores need doing to earn extra pennies. Yes there is a monthly charge but so worth it and its clear what the charge is. Thanks GoHenry
