The app is great for paying bills and checking on your money, I would agree that the login works sometimes and other times has no idea who you are and always ends up in my account getting locked. But I was wondering if there was a way I can see my credit card balance without calling them all the time. Other apps show you the balance and then once you make a payment it credits your account immediately. I have a hard time using this card because while im out I don't want to have to call to make sure I am not using more than 30%.

I’ve been having an issue logging in. It’ll say it can’t authenticate my log in. It’ll ask me for a Password, then say it can’t find my security questions. I’ve called and emailed customer service. They say to delete and reinstall the app. That doesn’t work either. The mobile site does the same thing. I don’t mind using the text prompts for a quick balance check, but I can’t use the text option for everything. So when I sent a message to first Midwest, they had me uninstall and reinstall the app. That didn’t work. I just deleted the app for about 4 months and then reinstalled it. Had to change my password and everything. I reinstalled it and it worked… for two months 😐. It’s again malfunctioning with the same prompts as before. I think I’m just going to uninstall it for good this time. Why bother with the app or bank at all. I’ve had my account with this bank for over 20 years which is the only reason why I still bank with them. There aren’t many branches, it’s only local, and the only perk is the app sometimes working.

First Midwest is stuck in the past technologically and worse yet, I honestly don’t think they really care or they would do something about it. Of all the banks I use, and all the accounts I have, they were the last to create an app and they are by far the worst of the 10 on my phone. As most other reviews state, the app frequently does not work. I honestly think it’s terrible even when it does work but 4-5 times a month the app is down or you are locked out. I am currently trying to login, to which I am told my info is wrong...until I get out my laptop and login with the same exact info I am told by the app is wrong. I guess, if you like dial-up internet and rotary phones then First Midwest is for you, if not save yourself the frustration and bank somewhere else.

When I first started using this app it was great!! But after, a few updates, it is not working at all. It takes my “touch id” but then just sits there and I finally get this error “We are temporarily unable to verify your device and credentials. Please login with your user ID and Password”. Then, I do that and it just sits there and does nothing until I kill the app. So I delete and re-install it. Again it will run through security questions and it will finally let me in once. Then when I go to launch it again it starts the process all over again and I get the same error. Very frustrating!

The only real feature of the app is seeing your account balance. The statements are shoddy, out of order, and sometimes don’t even show up. Say you have $50. Then you spend $30 at Walmart. When you open the app after, it will say your new balance is $20, but the statement saying you spend $30 is no where to be seen. Panic sets in, and you worry that it hasn’t gone through yet even though your balance reflects that it had. I always worry the amount is going to be taken out again, so I keep refreshing the app until finally, the Walmart withdrawal statement appears, and my available balance says $20. Why wouldn’t they both update at the same time??? And it doesn’t help that the statement part gets randomly shuffled around every time you look at it. It needs to be fixed.
