X10 WiFi

Overall the X10 generally works but it needs some work. Unfortunately the app only allows you to control one X10 Wi-Fi unit. If you buy more than one you have to install the app on another IOS device to control the second or more unit. So right off X10 must have not thought that thru very well as we are limited to purchase one unit per customer device. So if you have say a home unit and need another for a office or shop location you have to use a second phone or IPad. Who carries around multiple devices? X10 you need to address this issue if you expect to sell more units.

Functions well, I rely on the timers and I’ve never had an issue with that part. Setup can be difficult, the app interface is hard to understand at first, I got used to it. It looks like the app was designed strictly for function, but more functions would be nice. I would like to able to suspend the timers for holidays and such, but the only way to do that is to delete the timers. How about a suspend function? It would also be nice to organize the scenes I create instead of only the order I make them, same for timers.

Overall I’m pleased so far with the X10 WiFi controller. Setup was a little bit of a challenge, in that I use static IP addresses for all devices in my house. But knowing the work-arounds it was not too much of a hassle. Adding all my devices was simple. However, a great enhancement would be having the ability to drag and re-order your devices once you’ve added them. Setup of the Dusk/Dawn feature was a bit confusing. You have to add ONE at a time, save it and then go back in to add the other (even though you have access to both screens when editing setting up the feature). I’ve had a few issues where the “sync” feature fails and errors out. I’ve found that just trying a second or third time works.

I got this to continue my experience with my X10 devices after using ActiveHome for years. I have followed all of the procedures provided by Authentix, and I cannot get the app to select the home network I am logged into. It reports a generic WiFi name that I am not connected to. I am running iOS 13 (latest version). I don’t have a way of knowing if the WM100 device works because I can’t get past the network setup. There needs to be a way one can manually input the WiFi SSID, or this app is long overdue for an update to align it with the most recent operating systems. Does the app developer even care???

I am using IOS iPhone 8 Plus SW 12. I highly recommend purchasing something else than this unit. Knowing “The New X10”, I bought two of the WIFI Units. The first was was glitchy but worked until I performed the firmware upgrade. It quit working after the upgrade to correct the sync problem. I do not have the sync problem anymore because the unit quit working. OK, went to the second unit and it will not authenticate into ANY router. Existing or New ASUS. I expect authinx will deny my Refund. Sell your X10 stuff on the bay and get real Home Automation. Any brand now on the market will do. I doubt you will ever see this review.
