Wonderful for 24hrs - then unusable, don’t believe the information that you can subscribe in app... The £3.99 in app subscription that Which indicates both in the app and all over the website information about the app... yeah you can’t pay that. You’ll have to fork out nearly £11 for the full Which membership or the app becomes a paperweight. It sits there not doing anything for an extended time . To check this wasn’t a one off - I used a separate email to get into the account to get into the App. Surprise surprise. There is nothing in the settings for account management to get this app subscription that is indicated. Yet in the terms and conditions it is clearly indicated. They’re also listed in the app descriptions the AppStore as in app payments of either £3.99, or £4.99 for the ‘extended’ subscription... which you also can’t get in app. Personally this suggests Which doesn’t want you to get your subscription on the cheap, or loose 20% of they’re subscription to Apple. They’d much rather you pay them the full subscription and you get services you don’t want. Hence they get a one star review - as it’s not doing what they say it should. Kinda ironic that a service built on honest reviews is being ... dishonest...

To be honest, I’m not a heavy user of this app, or apps in general, but I am a subscriber to Which and will refer to their reviews quite regularly for purchasing decisions and just general interest. I’ve found it stable to use and the search and indexing functions work well. I also like the family sharing option which I will be making used of from this point on. It doesn’t however, offer a huge range of functions above and beyond accessing the normal website on a smartphone but I have rated it 3 over 4 stars simply because it does offer a few useful features such as being able to favourite items you may want to refer back to. The index feature, I find, also works better than the website when browsing rather then searching, so drilling down to the right category is quick and easy. In terms of improvements or things that might improve to 5 stars, notifications when new reviews are added in certain sections or the ability to run comparisons like you can on the main website would be things I would be interested in using. Perhaps also the ability to learn which items I am interested in (the search function already remembers previous searches) and tailor the menus accordingly. In general a very solid app but one which still sometimes struggles to differentiate itself from the browser offering.

Which? Issues a weekly email with what appears to be useful articles but, understandably, it only contains limited information and informs you that you have to be a member to get the full information. I am a member but find it nigh on impossible to get this. Nine times out of ten when I go onto the app and key in the title of the article I am interested in (i.e the exact words used by Which?) I am met with the response “not found”. One would have thought that an organisation which championed the consumer would pay attention to the consumer and give him or her a product that is fit foe purpose. I have updated this review in August 2019. Unless you know the exact phrase that Which? has used you will be unlikely to find the article you want. Most sites that I use have flexibility built into their search engine so that they will offer suggestions. Which? will merely return a “not found” message. Until an up to date search engine is introduced I’m afraid to say that Which? Is of very limited use.

A lovely app to use, full of clear and concise reviews as you would expect from Which. However it does fall down by consistently comparing like-for-like without taking into account budgetary requirements - for example there are plenty of decent cheap smartphones on the market, but as they’re being directly compared with their much more advanced counterparts, they consistently get poorly reviewed, rather than put into a category of their own. But if you can see through that then you’ll get plenty out of the app. One other minor niggle is that it tends to forget my shortlist of potential buys over time. I’ve not used that feature for a while though so that may have been fixed.

I downloaded this to compare All in One Colour Laser printers. Only you can't select All In One Colour Laser printers. You get All in One printers (including mono All in One) and Colour Laser printers (including print only Colour Lasers). What's more, if you want to select only printers that have an automatic Duplex feature... You can't! You have to plough through every single review to see if each particular model has that feature. That's just utter laziness on their part, when the ability is built into the app. They just couldn't be bothered to populate the data. My advice is to avoid wasting your time on this app at all costs, and don't even think of subscribing. There are better review sites such as Tech Radar, Tech Advisor and The Verge that give better, more in depth reviews and won't try skimming you for the privilege.
