Wellspent - Money Management

I have tried a few other apps like Mint.com and the TD spend tracker app, but I like Wellspent the most of all of them. Once my banking information was added, it has been easy to check it daily, and allocate my purchases to the categories provided. I use it to divide my personal and business expenses into separate categories because I have multiple bank accounts attached to it. It’s simple to use and I like the pie charts to see how my spending changes each month. I guess the one feature I don’t really understand is the “happy face/sad face”, I think you are supposed to use it to track your feelings about your spending (?), but it seems subjective and doesn’t seem useful to me.

Since they added my credit card to this app, I love it. I can have both my bank and credit card purchases in one place!

I downloaded this app when it first launched. I’ll admit I didn’t love it at first because of some errors, but with the updates it solved the problems and offered more! It’s likely that it may be a little wonky connecting your bank account, but 9 times out of 10 it will sort itself out when you log into your account on a computer. At the time of this review, I believe the app deserves a higher overall rating, it’s basically like having a personal accountant. Trust me, try it👌🏾

After resetting my password I noticed the forgotten password session token was never closed by Well Spent. Huge security flaw, really disappointed especially since you expect me to tie my RBC bank account to this. Thank goodness I did not connect my bank account to this. Basically means your password reset URL never expires, if an attacker has that URL, they can reset your password whenever they feel like, not good :( Another security issue is that you are required to have a max length password of 8 characters with at least 1 number, that’s very poor security practice, if at least expect 12 characters with special character, numbers and camel case. A warning to all that use this app, you may want to have your bank account unlinked to prevent any malicious activity till Wellspent solves this issue...
