I’ve always loved seeing NYC in old films and comparing places as I know them now to what they were like when the film was made. That only takes you back as far as 1948 though. This app is such a great way to learn about this city I love so much because I can see things as far back as the 1800s!! It’s also fun to explore on my own using the app and then impress people with my vast knowledge of the city. If you love NYC and enjoy learning about its history (or showing off to others), then you gotta get this app!!

I can’t believe this app! It’s updated occasionally and just gets better with each one. I get lost in the stories, the photographs and the history. If you see someone wandering around the city, looking at buildings and imagining the history - that’s me. Don’t open up the app if you really have to get somewhere because - you won’t. You’ll be too busy checking out the spots along your destination. Excellent, top quality content, user friendly, and FREE!

I really love this app. It’s one of my favorite apps ever. I love New York and part of that is just knowing about all the history that surrounds me when I’m there. Once upon a time there was another app called History Here that would notify you of nearby historical sites, and I always lamented its loss. Urban Archive created this app and it is absolutely echelons above History Here, and that’s an incredible feat. I’m so thankful for it.

This app goes above and beyond anything I’ve ever seen in an archival library. The details, the tours, the layout, UI, and the photo features are all so beautifully executed. A major round of applause to all involved in the constant updates and improvements. Every time I open this app I’m blown away by how great it is. How can you submit a nomination for app of the year? Anyone know? Urban Archive should be first in the running!
