This is one of the worst designed Apps I have the misfortune to ‘have to’ use!
The January 2019 update addresses none of these issues. Further, it now keeps crashing; telling me they can’t give an online rate so I must call; or not letting me in at all.
You get ONE STAR because I could actually transfer money with the App. But that’s it.
It is so user-UNfriendly that I researched other FX companies just so I wouldn’t have to be so frustrated by it.
Unfortunately TorFX still have one of the best exchange rates and I’ve been using them for a while, so better the devil you know.
Seriously though, this App needs a total redesign to do the company justice because right now it is so bad it is dragging them down.

My main complaint is that there are absolutely NO user customizations available. None. Yes, security is important, but this is ridiculous. Try following banking App guidelines....
Some very basic adjustments would help.
Here goes:
——————
1. LOGGING ON:
Thank you for adding Touch ID (my only positive comment, sorry)!
BUT - WHY do I have to log in again every single time I switch screens.
If I want to check exchange rate charts (not available in App), I have to log back in when I come back.
Every time. (Oh, and everything resets to default every time too).
SUGGESTION:
Log off to be based on an inactivity time out period or positive “log off” selection when finished.
Please do not FORCE us to log in every time we change screen.
Please make this an option. Allow user to choose auto-log-off triggers.
Compare to bank Apps.
Thanks!
2. DEFAULT HOME “CURRENCY” SCREEN
I do not want to buy £15k worth of €!
EVERY time I arrive at this screen, it defaults to £15k of €.
Bad enough if I’m switching between Apps, but wait..... it happens WITHIN the App!!! If I switch to another tab (“Activity”, “Recipients”, “Alerts”), then come back, it’s lost my selection and reverted to default.
This is especially annoying because I’m always buying USD, which is all the way at the bottom of the list.
So, every time I use the App, I have to scroll down to select USD then change the amount. This happens more times than I can count and is an exorbitant waste of my time and another huge frustration.
It is RIDICULOUS.
SUGGESTION:
A) Please allow users to set their own default so they don’t have to constantly change the base data.
(Eg £10k of USD)
B) Please hold user input currency data selections in the App session memory so it doesn’t lose them when user switches App screens in a single use session. (Eg £5k or £15k of USD).
Thanks.
3. ALERTS
I have set up rate alerts but never got any notifications. My rate was reached but nothing. Silence from the App. Frustrating (again!) because I missed my window.
My phone notifications for the App are set to alert me with sound, on lock screen, with a permanent banner so I couldn’t miss it.
But wait... oh, it sends an email.
WHAT??? The notification for a phone app is an email?!!!
Come on TorFX!
This is a PHONE App!!!
Have you heard of phone “Notifications”? Who are your developers?!!
SUGGESTION:
Notifications for rate alerts occur like any other phone App notification: They come to the phone! Please!! Or, as a minimum, please allow users to choose if they want a phone or email notification.
Thank you.
4. TRANSACTIONS / RATE LOCK
The Exchange Rate (XR) changes mid-transaction which is frankly unacceptable, especially with the App being slow.
Eg.: I start on the Currency Home screen, select my currency and amount, and keep refreshing the screen until I am happy with the proffered XR.
When I hit “continue”, I have accepted that XR.
WRONG.
The next screen is to select my recipient, but the XR is shown at the top and it may or may not have changed from the previous screen.
And there’s more:
Select your recipient and hit “continue” to the payment choice screen, and the XR may or may not change again.
SUGGESTION:
Please lock in the XR when we “continue” on the first page.
You have offered a rate and we are accepting it. Lock.
5. IN-APP DATA
SUGGESTIONS:
A) It would be incredibly useful to have exchange rate charts within the App for trend analysis and to aid go/no-go decision making.
B) I would like to be able to view a chart summary of my transaction history rather than pulling up separate PDFs for each transaction and having to extrapolate the data manually. NB I am a personal user so all listed transactions are mine. I would imagine a business user or agent would like the ability to pull transaction history charts by recipients or by currencies.
I could write more but I’ll stop here.
Please understand that the length of this review represents the depth of my frustration with this App and my huge disappointment in TorFX for allowing this monstrosity to represent them.
This App is a massive missed opportunity and has the potential to be an invaluable tool rather than a frustrating headache.
Do better.
