Thronebreaker

This is a great game! I played it on PS4 and was super excited to see it on iOS. Part collectible card game and part RPG. You play as Queen Meve, gathering an army to fight an invasion. Characters you recruit in the story add unique cards to your Gwent Deck, which acts as your army in card battles. The decisions you make throughout the story as Queen can be tough, and they have serious consequences. You can easily lose characters/cards along the way. It is a great story, with an amazing set of characters, and it ties in perfectly to the books if you have read them. The gameplay is also very varied and keeps the game fresh. For example, not every card game is a straight “battle” where highest score wins. Many are unique puzzle games, where you get a unique one time deck and need to figure out how to solve puzzles with just Gwent cards. I was blown away by how many different “mini games” they could make. Thronebreaker will never get the praise as the “masterpiece” Witcher 3 received, but it is a hidden gem. CD Projekt Red is my favorite developer and this game deserves a sequel. Yes it is on the more expensive side for an iOS game, but considering I spent 30-40 hours playing this on a console, it is a bargain.

I played through this game once on PC so far and found it super enjoyable. All the different choices in the story and all the different play styles of decks is amazing. Just bought it on here and can’t wait to see how the ending is with different choices made. It’s a must play if you want a good card game without all the in game purchases to get good enough cards to play other people.

Having audio issues with Bluetooth across two different headsets. I restarted my phone and the issues went away for a while, but have now come back and are making my ears cry. Issues mostly happen when my finger is on the screen to navigate Meve around the world. Makes the game basically unplayable. Not sure what’s up with that but have not had any issues with these headphones with any other game, including Gwent. Fix that issue and I’ll change my 2 star review back to 5 in a heartbeat. ** Previous post ** So glad Thronebreaker finally came to iOS. Fantastic story, tough choices, wonderful art, and challenging combat via Gwent. Hopefully TB can gain the eyeballs here on mobile that it missed out on when it first launched. I’ve been putting off the final battle of the game for months now, not sure why... so now I can finally finish it without having to switch my Mac into Windows via bootcamp. If there’s one piece of feedback I could offer, it would be that everything looks a bit small on iPhone... it would be great if you could zoom in in the world exploration screen without having it autozoom you right back out again. Otherwise, awesome!

This is a port of a PC game that the developers did not bother doing any due diligence with when porting to iOS. It does not support iCloud saves so I can not have the same save file between devices. Second, the touch targets are so small it’s pathetic. Third, you are supposed to tap exactly on top of the thing you’re interacting with, making it impossible to see. Fourth, there are often UI glitches and bugs making the game cover 1/4th of the screen. Fifth, the controls and combat system do not have a “cancel” option for mobile play. On a console there is a dedicated button for this, whereas on mobile, the only way to cancel is attack your own Troops. Finally, the text is so small on a standard iOS device with no accessibility features. TL;DR you’re better off buying the PC version. The mobile version is not even worth a $. CD Projekt Red, I love your work, but I despise your pathetic attempts at a mobile port of this game.

This game is incredible on PC, and I’m so happy to see it come to iOS. My only dream is that Gwent/Thronebreaker come to Mac OS in the future. I hope it’s a possibility with the ARM Macs set to release this year. If you’ve never played this game, you’re in for a full, well written game. It’s an absolute steal at 10$.
