A great place for my family !!

I don’t share much on big open social platforms because I don’t want my life available for the world to see. I’m also not interested in marketing myself - which is all social media seems to be now, some sort of insincere self promotion flanked by other kinds of promotion or propaganda by so called “influencers.” I’m beyond not interested. And even though I don’t know how my data can be used it makes me uneasy that I’m being tracked and that data is being shared with all kinds of services. I just don’t want to worry about that. Fambam caught my eye because; 1. It’s a private social space that, 2. I simply control by managing who’s in it and, 3. you, as a user, own your data (there are no ads or promos anywhere). It also promised to be “the social media app you were familiar with.” All of those things together sounded... I just remember thinking “oh - cool” (as lame as that is) so, I gave it a go. It’s definitely not *as* polished as other major social networking apps out there but... it’s new, it’s pretty descent, and my guess is it will get there. Beyond that, I’ve been delightfully (don’t use *that* word much) surprised by a few things; 1. Because it’s private and I can control who’s in our fambam, I let my kids use it with zero reservations. It’s really wonderful to see them express themselves in our fambam and to see them connect 1-to-1 with family members who are hundreds of miles away that they haven’t connected with at all until now. This is probably my favorite part. 2. My dad, who has refused social media for years, is all about fambam! He’s posting all kinds of stuff now. I find this interesting and kinda funny :) 3. I feel like I can be myself in this space, free of judgement (and lurking by future potential employers) because my family knows me and how imperfect I am. Because of this, I find I share a lot more than I ever have. Weird to say but I feel like my relationships with my family members who use fambam is better. I had honestly rated the app 4 starts because it has a bit of a ways to go as far as features are concerned but after writing this review and really thinking about it for the first time... I kinda love fambam. I think that’s worth 5 stars.
