That Dragon, Cancer

I honestly don’t know how this doesn’t have a perfect 5-star rating on here, because it is the single greatest game I’ve ever played in my life, and I can’t thank the Green family enough for making it and sharing Joel’s story. It’s the most heartbreaking, beautiful and inspiring storytelling game I’ve ever played. I’ve lost family to cancer as well, and this perfectly shows every detail of what it’s like for the person who suffers from it, their overwhelming strength and optimism through it, and how family members struggle to cope with the loss after a fight is lost. I’ve never cried at any form of media, whether it be television or games, but this was the first one. I laughed, I smiled, and I cried the whole time through, because I knew it was real without having anyone spoil it for me. If you want to experience a truly beautiful story, then I recommend this above any game in existence. And if you have a heart, please donate whatever amount you can to vital organizations, like St. Jude Children’s Hospital and/or the American Cancer Association.

This game has literally changed my life and opening me to new understandings. I cried and I laughed and did it all again. To anyone who plays read the letters and listen to the notes. This game has a beautiful design and the story telling is amazing. Though It is a little Anouilh with over religious vibes but that's how the greens coped. It also has multiple bugs but still nothing major. And to conclude I would just like to say, to the creators, I'm sorry for the loss of your son. And these means a lot from an atheist but I pray he is truly in a better place or got a "do over" and became the amazing person Joel would of been if he was not struck by that demonic dragon. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Green for making something so perfect and beautiful. Btw the main glitch is in the first chapter when you go to the first section of whispering and there is no path out (visibly) and the area of the spot you Kia hit to escape is extremely small.

Never have I before played a game like this. If you need to know one thing about this game, is that it is powerful, and deeply emotional. This game is so powerful, that at times I thought I was the child's father. This game will make you think about and evaluate your life. Also, this game has a strong spiritual message that many, such as myself can relate too. Now this game is not perfect yet, there are some small bugs within the game that must be looked at. For example during the level when you are in the park, sometimes Joel won't be on one of the equipment or he would be there, but you would not be able to interact with him. You can fix this by exiting the game and going back in. However it would be nice if this were fixed permanently. Other than that, this game is certainly unique, powerful, inspirational, emotional, and has a strong connection to God. This game will change how you look at life!

This game touched my heart. I had a experience with cancer not me but my best friend..it all started when I was in pre k and she was in 2nd grade she used to give me a hug every morning then over that summer she was diagnosed with brain cancer she had treatment but on the first day of school I saw my best friend with no expression in her face and in a wheelchair. She didn’t remember me at all I felt neglected and very depressed. During that summer she died in her sleep. I remember that first day of school I was on the bus and my friend said she died I obviously didn’t believe her because well I was in denial. When I got off that bus I went up to my teacher and whispered to her and she sadly said yes. I was crying but no one cared because they didn’t know and her brother was in my class so he got all the love and got to talk to the teacher i know I might sound selfish but it hurt because no one seemed to care that I felt bad. Over all the game was amazing full of memories.

I've never actually cried while playing a game. And while I don't think I would call this a game per say, it was a beautiful experience. The part in the hospital when you can read all the letters from families and friends to the people they lost broke my heart, I just sat and cried while reading them. I can't imagine the amount of pain you went through losing a child, I wish I could hug you and somehow take away some of that pain. But I appreciate the time and energy you put into creating such a beautiful experience to show people what it's like to lose someone and what that feels like. This will stay with me for a long time, as will the empathy and compassion towards those who have experienced what you went through. You're all in my prayers and I'm very thankful to have experienced this, thank you.
