Taskrabbit - Handyman & more

I've used taskrabbit a few times now for things like cleaning, deliveries and helping me move house. The service has always been smooth, good value for money and have always found the people who do the tasks to be professional and friendly, have recommended it to a few friends who have found it good too

TaskRabbit used a phone notification to send me a link to a pancake recipe. (It has a setting to disable “promotional” notifications, but clearly that setting doesn’t seem to work, or isn’t respected.) Enabling notifications on an app requires a certain level of trust - you trust that a company isn’t going to abuse that privilege. So it’s a problem for me when an app which requires notifications to work, like TaskRabbit does, abuses that trust to send me advertising. I know there are bigger problems in the world, but this sorta thing is pretty annoying. If they do it again I’m just going to delete the app and stop using the service. Shrug emoji!

Pretty good app for finding people for various jobs. Annoyingly though the app has gotten worse over the past few years... They’ve removed a lot of the categories like ‘usability testing’ which is what I use it for 90% of the time (I now have to find people under the ‘running errands’ category which isn’t really accurate for what I use it for). Also if you want someone for a specific time (which I always do), you can’t put this in the filter. Instead you have to select your date and then click on each tasked individual task rabbiter to see if they’re free at that time. Also there is no way to request multiple task rabbiters in one booking... Like I said, it’s a good app for finding people but there’s just a bunch of annoying changes they’ve made and the data breach a few months ago was very worrying (my card got cancelled because of it...and I had to reorder a new one)

Thoroughly recommend using TaskRabbit for getting things done around the house. That said, I was just considering a few taskers for a new task and I noticed that after I had sorted them by price, some of the reviews started to look familiar... There seems to be a little bug where it's possible to see reviews against the wrong tasker - I could tell since a few reviews named the tasker. But in general I love the service and can cope with a niggle like that in the app.

I've now used TaskRabbit 6 x and have been very pleased every time. The booking process is fast and simple with clearly authentic actual user reviews making it super easy to book the correct person for the job. The ‘taskers’ vary greatly in price but everybody seems to set their own prices, so it’s nice to know everybody gets paid a fair wage for their services.
