Sub-Zero Group Owner’s App

Junk application that has promise if only it was reliable. Easily connected on first try after new refrigerator was installed. Hope springs eternal.... but 2 days later, unable to connect. Receiving error message “unreachable via cloud”. Called help desk, of course they’re of no immediate help. Created case and will get back. Holding my breath! Hope the (very expensive) refrigerator works better than this flimsy app. UPDATE-after three calls to the help desk, they disclosed that server issues were the cause of the connectivity faults. Finally, five days after the issue surfaced, it was magically resolved and the connection reestablished. However, never received any proactive updates or communication on the resolution. In summary, am happy that the app is working as advertised (for now) and wasn’t actually ever to blame.

Love my new SubZero freezer and refrigerator columns. They are definitely 5 star! I expected more from the app. No problems connecting but it does drop the appliance occasionally and finds them again when you shut down the app and restart. Annoying. Heres my main beef. The app doesn’t show the actual temperature. If you can show the set point why can’t you show me the actual temperature without me having to open the refrigerator? Other stuff has to be done by opening the doors also. Doing more on the app would certainly make things more efficient than standing there with the door open while you’re working on a setting of some kind. Doesn’t make sense. Hoping for more functionality in future app updates, please!

My 8 Sub-Zero appliances of various types will not stay paired with the app despite running through the process twice now. They initially pair successfully, and then later, they will not stay paired when trying to use the app. After pairing successfully, each time I open the app, the appliances appear as designed for a few seconds, and then suffer authentication issues and the ask for pairing again. After two times pairing 8 appliances, with the same results, I'm not going through the pairing process again. Also, the appliances only appear on one iPhone, and will not appear on another device (like my iPad) even when logging in with the same account. Great in concept, but poor in execution, not worth the trouble.

App allows the appliance to setup a connection to a WiFi network by leveraging a Bluetooth connection between it and your phone—very slick. The app offers a plethora of settings, information and notifications. It is the most useful appliance app I’ve used. Most are just an excuse to promote WiFi connectivity. Not this one, this app is legit useful, and demonstrates the same best in class quality as the oven to which it’s tethered.

This app seemed to be working OK for the past year but with this release it no longer connects to Wifi and I’m getting a message indicating that it can’t connect to “the cloud” or whatever back end server they have. Also this happened coincidentally with a filter needing replacement notification but not sure I trust that given no connection. Tried to connect manually but that didn’t work either as it generated an error saying a gibberish SSID already exists. Further noticed that they seem to default to WPA security which is nearly obsolete on modern access points. So plenty of potential problems...
