This is a great app for anyone trying to get into coffee (not espresso). The brew ratios are fixed to each brew method on this app so you will obtain a consistently tasty cup. I have been using the French press method for some time now, but when I tried this recipe, it became my new favorite. Each recipe has an integrated timer that will tell you when to do each step, I think that is paramount to anyone trying to figure out these coffee methods.

This is EXACTLY what I've been hoping to find! I am a pharmacist, so I appreciate having ratios provided, and the weights of coffee & water in grams. I brew using an instant-read thermometer, and have a burr grinder. A friend and I cup a couple of new beans once a week, and I have always brewed "secundum artem", but now it'll be a true comparison with this app. Love the timer with increments! This is a game-changer, taking it all to a new and consistent level.

I’ve been using the intelligentsia app for about 2 years. I thought I might change things up and see what else was out there. This app has locked in recipes... so you are out of luck if you want to make more or less coffee at the same ratio. Worst of all I just ruined 45 grams of coffee with their chemex recipe. It’s like tea. The app is low on features and the coffee recipe is terrible. I would chalk it up to “you get what you pay for... and it’s free”, but the intelligentsia app is free as well and it’s great. Headed back to my old app.

This app looks and feels great. However, there's seemingly no way to customize the brews. For example. I prefer a 17.3:1 ratio for my chemex instead of the 16.7:1 ratio used by the app. I also like to brew a total of around 780g of coffee because I make it for myself and my wife in the large chemex. This app does not let me customize the recipes to my needs, so I can't use it. If the user could adjust these parameters, it would be a perfect app.
