Shudder: Horror & Thrillers

I put off signing up for a while but after dropping Now t.v I gave this ago, really just to recapture my time spent as a teenager watching 80s B movies. I am impressed by the range of sub genres and the quality is great, I like the way it auto restarts the film after you pause the app (little touches impress me) and the menus are easy to navigate. Now the downsides, they are small things really, like having the same thumbnail for the same film appearing two, three and sometimes four times in the title list. Also some of the titles have no headings so you have to click them to discover the film. In essence they are cosmetic things and take nothing away from the actual service. I would like to see a search function for titles and directors along with actors to help narrow my options and when casting to my Sky Q box I only get sound and the film thumbnail so that is a bit of a bugbear for which it lost stars.

I signed up just so I could listen to the latest episodes of the podcast Deadly Manners a week ahead of normal. Really disappointed to find that the podcast actually plays as a video and not as audio on its own! This means that my screen has to stay on while I’m listening and eats through my battery, and forget about listing on the go with the phone in my pocket! I hope that an audio only podcast feature is added soon!

What a brilliant idea to have a horror streaming service, this is right up my street and I have already had great value for money with at least 10 brilliant films seen this month that I wouldn’t have heard of but for shudder, I wish ppl would stop moaning and support new ideas as they grow, thank you shudder for making me laugh with “ one cut of the dead” and hide behind my pillow with “ bezelebuth” a huge well done guys and gals!

Can’t stop watching, lots of otherwise unknown films and series and some great older titles that I had years ago on video tape but haven’t seen since. My only suggestion would be an option to pause when casting to chromecast, if there is one I haven’t been able to find it yet.

I opted for the free trial and basically unsubscribed straight away because the choice on the app is basically horrible. Everything seemed poorly executed and there wasn’t much choice. However, I checked my bank statement and was shown to be charged even though it states that you wouldn’t be if you cancelled before the end of your free trial. A scam in all honesty. Stick to netflix and watching your movies online rather than buying into this. It’s not worth the hassle or money. Just click away and pretend this app/service doesn’t exist.
