Ripelist

I've been using Ripelist since its beta testing. It's a great way to trade, buy, sell and give away food and garden items with my neighbors. I've met some cool people this way, got to try some neat new foods, was able to share the extras of my garden, and I'm looking forward to more. As someone who likes to try out new recipes, I've use Ripelist to share my first-round efforts with new variations or practice batches. As someone who can't quite get to making everything, I get to try out new-to-me things other people make. As someone looking to connect more with the neighborhood, I get to have much more personal interactions even than with the local farmers market. I can see versions of this popping up in any city - it's just a matter of who wants to participate and how large an area the app version covers at a time. I'll be curious to see how the user policies evolve as more people find and use the app, and as local and larger governments have more to say about giving away and trading alcohols (state-store-bought/user-flavored vs user-distilled/brewed) and marijuana edibles (Oregon being a recreational pot use state now).

Ripelist is such a useful app. I have used it to buy home grown veggies from my neighbors and to give away extra herbs from my garden. My neighborhood in Portland is one of the first communities that Ripelist has built a presence in. I've been impressed by how many listings there have been within walking distance to me. There is a great variety of listings. There are often herbs, eggs, kombucha, veggies, baked goods, and just about anything else you might want. I love the concept so much that I try to remember to check Ripelist before making a grocery run.

This app is amazing for facilitating/increasing local food production and consumption of not only produce but also yummy value added items. There are options to trade or/and sell. Certainly it is the wave of a more local and sustainable future, and helps to keep $ circulating within the community. Great app, super fun to use, hope it catches on super fast!!!

I have used Ripelist since it's creation, and have been very impressed by how easy it is to use, and how effectively it connects people with local homegrown/homemade goods. I love the community aspects of it, and look forward to seeing Ripelist grow to more communities in the future.

Brilliant. We have several plum trees which bear more fruit than we could ever use. This is a great way to keep it from going to waste!
