Remote for Roku TV - iRem

This app is a saver. My remote got bad due to bad battery leak. I tried downloading other apps. It was either an in-app purchase or required log-in. This app eliminates both required. Simply download-and-use. The remote is straight forward. It also has a keyboard. You can type your searches on the QWERTY keyboard, instead on using the navigation arrows to located each letter and select it. It is very much less cumbersome and saves time. However, the increase volume bottom did not work for me. I could decrease and mute the volume. I will appreciate the assistance to tech team. Thanks

Many of the buttons work well but when you have to turn the volume back up it does not work want you turn it down. This is happened to me every single time I use the remote. It will turn down and mute but it will not turn back up. There are a few functions on the remote that need fixing, depending on the remote that you download because there’s so many of them. I wish they would limit their Avenue sound to one or two so we know which one goes best with the TV we have. Mine would be fine if it was a little simpler however you can’t complain I guess about Free When I paid four dollars for my last three that I had to download each time to my older iPhones. Now they all seem to be free except voice activated ones. There are a few glitches here and there like with the power button I believe it turns off but not back on and things like that.

I am of fan of Roku; I have had one iteration of Roku streaming devices since 2014 and four devices since 2016, ranging from the Roku3 to the HD 4 to Roku TV; and while the actual hardware for the streaming device themselves are reliable, the Roku remotes are less than acceptable. I constantly have challenges with the remotes. Typically it’s the connection of the batteries to metal prongs, I think. I will give second thought to buying another due to the remotes AND the fact that Roku has discontinued their news feeds; I was certainly of the late night updates and it was a good place to catch up on the news in one, convenient place but not anymore. I would hope, and expect, since Roku has removed the news feeds that the sale price of new Roku streaming devices will drop but I’m not holding my breath in that one. So to summarize, I feel the actual steaming hardware Roku manufactures is adequate and reliable, EXCEPT for the remotes... come on Roku, you can do better.

Only thing missing is when i try to search & use the keyboard..nothing i type actually is added to my search on you tube on the screen.. and i ended up typing it again as normally would on roku.. which is too slow so i never use it,only other easy tv apps .. the rest i just do on computer seperate from tv roku since i have no patience or time to use the arrows one by one to get to the next letter on the roku slow way of typing instead of having a keyboard function that actually works. I see the keyboard there & i bring it up.. but just dont show up in tv

So far its working great! It easier to use the remote via phone since its always with you and the extra devive can be stored away. Its faster than another version I have for my 2nd TV. Update: Also the free premium version of this remote after writing a review is only available via itunes which is annoying 😐..why not app store I downloaded another roku app whose layout is better with bigger buttons which makes it easier to navigate. You can also connect you earphones to you tv audio via that app o your phone . So im updating my review to 3.
