Outliner for iPad

This may be a bit long but please read on. It may save you a lot of time and trouble. I really have tried ALL of the outline apps for the iPad, save for one, omnioutline, because it was way to much money and the reviews were not good enough to blow $20 on the app just to try it but, if I had, it would have been the most expensive app I have ever owned! I digress. Sorry. I just got SO cheesed off at the other outline apps Over-promising and Under-delivering on their claims of the greatness. This is the closest I've found to a true layout and numbering system for an outline app. AND IT HAS UNDO!! Undo was missing from the others save one that would let you step back once unless you did something else then no dice. If you think undo is no big deal? Wait until you lose a tree of information or an entire outline by hitting an errant keystroke and you experience the stomach dropping realization that you can't get it back. I would highly recommend this app to anyone looking for an outlining app. It's easy to learn (it had a nice tutorial layout) easy to use (it actually does what you expect when you try to use it) the online outline and syncing aspect was a breeze and the price was right. I wish I had started with this one because it cost plenty to try the rest only to end up with the best one, for my purposes, for not a lot of money. It's simple and true to the outline concept. Carbonfin outliner is head and shoulders the best outliner is the world. It is extremely flexible, a new list or adding an entry to an-9#ting liebteyto a couple of intuitive clicks. The layout on the iPad is especially handy. The powerful season function will jet you manage even long,complex lists easily. This is really a gem!!

My outline was ruined when this so called feature turned itself on.

Apl 2018 The app now has full screen view in landscape, making it officially the best outliner in the App Store. There are apps that make fancier outlines, but frankly on the iPad fussing with formatting is just annoying. Plus they use proprietary formats. This app uses OPML, which with Dropbox sync makes it easy to transfer usable data between all platforms. This plus the ability to fold text (hiding points you're not working on) makes it a great way to get serious writing done on the iPad. Feb 2016 I've had Outliner since iPad 1, and it's still the best OPML app in the store. And still desperately needs (1) full screen landscape mode and (2) ability to select Dropbox folder for sync. Neither of these are hard. Older: This is a really good app. It does outlining, just outlining, really well. Which is why it is so frustrating that after 5 years, the developers still haven't released a version adapted to the IPAD. What you get is two iPhone screens sitting next to each other, crowding the space and making it harder to actually write. Carbonfin, put in full screen landscape mode in the next version. Please! Old review: Function-wise, this is the best outliner in the store. Although it doesn't have the fancy formatting of omnioutliner, it also doesn't require their proprietary format. And Dropbox sync means I can avoid Carbonfin's sync services, too--that's good. Problem: as it's been since the beginning, this app in landscape remains two iPhone screens glued together. Full screen mode in landscape would be easier to use with large outlines, better looking, and would prevent me from unwanted touches on the list of outlines. Please, please give us full screen mode in landscape!--as I've been asking for three years now. All other apps do it, so I know you can too!

I've been using Outliner for iPhone for around a year. When I first saw the app for the iPad I hesitated because it wasn't Universal. However, developers do need money to continue to make such great software. I made it all the way to the end of the second day with the iPad before I hit the buy button. It is definitely worth the money. All the features are available from the iPhone version like cloud syncing and sharing. The larger screen makes so much more content visible and it makes the interface a lot faster because of fewer page transitions to get anything done. Editing is so much easier with the larger keyboards available. The new inline editing seems more useful than on the smaller screen. This is the closest I've come to being able to check items off a clipboard with a computing device. The developer has been responsive when I reported a small bug in the iPhone version and it's been one of the more stable apps on my phone.
