The app does the basic things you expect it to do: it connects to the camera and creates GPS logs. However, the user interface is dismal. It requires a great deal of poking around and searching to find all the functions and ways to get information out of the app. Overall, it appears that Olympus has a very amateur development team that isn’t writing good apps. The whole strategy of having two separate apps to work with your camera is just crazy. Now we get to the terminal bug: when you record two or more GPS logs for the day, it will only export the first one you recorded. No matter how many ways you try, it will not export the second, third or fourth log. Even if you delete the first log, it’s still only exports that first log. Pretty much makes the app completely useless. The app does work with multiple GPS logs from one day to tag the photos while still on the camera, using the awful workflow that Olympus has designed. but if you want to visualize your GPS data anywhere outside of the Olympus app, you are stuck. If your goal is simply to capture GPS data and tag your photos appropriately, you may be better served by using a regular GPS tracking app, exporting the GPX file, and using an app like Lightroom to tag the photos with GPS data. I am finding this a much more satisfactory experience than trying to use the clunky workflows Olympus has designed. Too bad – the camera is awesome. The software really needs work.

Awkward translation to English, which makes it difficult to decide weather it is safe to click it. Simply “Info” or “Details” would be more clear ... and actually I do not want to be bothered about it as a regular user just interested in geotagging his trips. Too complex - why the separate steps A-GPS and date/time sync, and a separate button to upload, and again a separate step to sync the geotag. Just a single button called “Sync Camera” would be clear. Otherwise - all functionality is there and more.

I used to be able to send geologs in a batch all at once. I used to be able to see a map showing where the photos still on my camera were taken. I used to be able to share the logs easily and in batches. I used to be able to share those logs even if they were taken on the same day. Not anymore. Not since Olympus decided to move the tracking function to a separate app. Why the share button needs to be hidden under "more" is beyond me. Swiping is not always "intuitive" which I'm sure is what they were doing for. A quick swipe and your log is deleted. A careful swipe and then a tap and then another tap to add to the camera... one at a time... is dumb and slow. If I knew of any alternative I would happily delete this app.

Sometimes the app works, kind of, but more often it says my Olympus camera is not supported. I’m very disappointed because all my photography is travel photography. This situation is very unfortunate because the camera is awesome and this app should be awesome too. Olympus needs to give this project a higher priority and encourage their subcontractor to fix this software. This application apparently has been defective for a year or more, so the fix is long overdue. And, by the way, when you fix it, please don’t make it so complicated to use. Thank you, Olympus.

I finally figured out how to merge the log data with the video. Since the video didn’t import the first time I was really confused on what to do. It would be nice to have a manual. The second time, after taking a new video they merged but there was an error during the export so my editing changes weren’t saved. There’s an update for the GPS Assist Data but every time I try to transfer it to the camera it tells me the log is still running even though I shut it off.
