NBC Bay Area: News & Weather

This year, unfortunately, we’ve all encountered exceptional disasters, from the fires, to the Coronavirus, and everything in between. This app has been my lifeline. I will get immediate alerts on my phone to important information that I otherwise would have missed, I watch live or recorded segments with vital information that I otherwise would never have been able to see if I didn’t have this app near me. I advise anyone who does not have this, to get it now. It truly could save your life, and it’s also just a nice communication link to everything you need.

My family was cut off from most of the communication when the power went off in Moraga and then the fire in Moraga broke out, the authorities cut off the home WiFi..but we found out that they could get text messages from me in San Jose. I started sending them your news via text and she could open them. At 6:00 am they found out from me and your app that the fire was a 4 min. drive from their home. And they were never warned.... I flipped to other channels but no one was on the ground in Moraga..thank you for your up close coverage....

We recently moved away from the Bay Area. Enjoyed the reliability of the having the local news available on my phone at that time. Now that we are in WA state I can still keep up with what’s going on. Gives me a little peace of mind having a young adult child and friends living several states away when I can still keep up with the news in the area.

For the last several months, I have not been able to access articles in the Local News section. Any time I tap an article to read it, it displays the first article in the bottom section — at the moment, it’s the “People are there for you” one. If I swipe to try and access the previous article, it takes me back to the article list. When I saw the app had been updated with bug fixes, I got my hopes up, but it’s still doing the same darn thing. It’s really frustrating, since I like the app in general.

This has been my go-to app for local news, alerts & weather. I’ve been very pleased with the coverage of top news story’s, alerts & weather forecasts. However, I’m NOT happy with the update and the layout of the weather section. The live map/radar view takes up the majority of the page, with only a small side column for the current & 10-day forecast! Why would you think the majority of viewers would prefer to just view the live radar map?! Please go back to the old view.
