Between January and April 1814, Champagne and Brie were the scene of Napoleon’s last victories. At the head of an army that had been severely weakened by the Russian and German Campaign, the Emperor tried to prevent invasion by troops of the Sixth Coalition of European armies and keep his throne. Travel along Napoleon’s route from Châlons-en-Champagne to Fontainebleau via Brienne-le-Château, Champaubert, Nogent-sur-Seine, Montereau-Fault-Yonne and Arcis-sur-Aube, follow in the footsteps of Napoleon. Follow in also those of the imperial army or coalition troops and see the battlefields and the places where the army leaders halted. Discover the memorials and monuments paying homage to French victories and visit the museums that keep alive the 1814 French Campaign which preceded Napoleon’s abdication and the temporary end of the First Empire.
