Mopeka TankCheck

This is a good idea for remotely monitoring LP tanks and the app works great. But the product is constructed in such a way I was left with nothing after a year. The green rubber spacers that are supposed to support each tank break after one or two fill-ups, and then the monitor itself is demolished by the weight of the tank. Also, I’m sure the sensors are supposed to be water-resistant but once the spacers self-destruct, the sensors do the same. Save your money.

The issues in some older reviews have been corrected in the newer models of the sensor, e.g, the feet to hold the tank a bit off the ground are now metal not rubber so they won't break. Also re other reviews: a) if you don't want to see repeated low tank warnings, just turn off the alarms after the first warning (just one touch to do this in the main menu) and turn it back on after you refill the tank, b) if you think you'll increase battery life by having the app check your tank's level less frequently, just turn off "background app refresh" in your phone's or tablet's settings...doing so will cause a little delay to get a new reading once you open the app, but that's no big deal as you don't need to check very often. Now my review: Although my Weber grill has crude weight scale to let you know when the tank is low, it is very imprecise to the point of being worthless. I have occasionally run out of gas in the midst of cooking (not fun). To prevent that, I would buy gas when I perceived the tank was low...but it may have been 25% full for all I knew. Sometimes I weighed the tank on my bathroom scale, but that was inconvenient as I had to disconnect the tank from the grill to do so. Another solution would be to have a spare full tank always on hand, but I don't have a convenient place to store it, and placing it in my garage is unsafe. The Mopeka tank check sensor solved all these problems. And the app is well designed and works perfectly. Super product!

Installed on iPad 9.3.5, all I get is "Star Scan Error" please check that Bluetooth is enabled and try again. It is and connects/pairs with other devices? I've tried turning on/off Bluetooth, other connections, reinstalling app and other solves I could find to no avail. Any suggestions? Should note I have installed app on another iPad (12.1.4), 2 phones and app is awesome, just wish I could get on my iPad...

We are full time RVrs and live in a colder climate. I bought the sensors to give us notice of our propane levels in colder weather. One thing that I noticed is that the tank surface must be clean and relatively smooth for the device to work. Also, if a sensor starts getting "wonky", you can pull the battery to reset the sensor to factory specs. The sensors themselves are fairly accurate and reliable; if one of them says that a tank is low I know it's time to go out and check the regulator to see if it has switched over. As far as the App, I'd like to see notifications for low signal, low battery, and low propane levels. This would make it so I wouldn't have to manually check the app periodically. Update: the developers recently added the notifications I requested. Also they updated the overall appearance of the app. The changes to the app seem to work great and will certainly make things easier. I really appreciate the responsiveness of the development team in adding this to the app. I honestly can't think of any reason why anyone who wants a reliable propane tank level solution wouldn't want this app and the devices they support.
