I have a WiFi generac generator and I can check the status of it through the app. However, there are a few issues. 1) there is a delay in the status change on the generator and what is shown on the app. 2) the app is buggy and crashes often on iOS 12. 3) the push notifications don’t work even though I have them turned on. I still get alerts via email but would really like push notifications. 4) the app hasn’t been updated for the newer screens on the iPhone X, XS. This might seem like a small thing but it feels out of date as soon as you open the app when there is large areas of black on the top and bottom of the app. If some of these issues are fixed/updated I would rate the app higher.

Wouldn’t a Generac owner like to know if: a power failure occurred & their generator turned on; or if their generator had a problem and needed attention? Of course we would. The app won’t do that proactively. That’s about the minimum I would want from the app. All this app does is let you know when future service should be performed, & the how many hours it has run. And, if you happen to notice that the red light is on the generator & check the app the app will confirm there is a problem. But if you’re away from home & your generator starts up or if it has a problem the app won’t alert you. That’s all I want. This app is worthless & is very disappointing! What a joke.

I live on the coast and invested in a Generac 22kw generator for emergencies. After downloading the app and evacuating for hurricane Dorian, I discovered it is purely for monitoring the generator. The app has no control over the generator functions. When I called customer service, the rep apologized and said they hear from many customers who have the same issue with the app but volunteered that the ability to start/stop is on the drawing board. Really? Who didn’t think this would be important? So now that we are 350 miles away, when the power drops the generator will automatically start and run until the propane supply is exhausted. I would’ve expected much more from an app that Generac provides to their customers.

This app and their website are both useless. I was excited that I’d have mobile monitoring of my generator during power outages, but the app and website make it impossible to get up and running. The website allows you to sign up, but doesn’t allow you to update any preferences or fields. Keeps returning errors about servers unavailable. The mobile app doesn’t allow access after signing up online with the credentials you choose. Had I known this I wouldn’t have bothered with the WiFi capability. They’re clearly in over their heads when it comes to networking, website functionality and 21st century tech in general.

It is very painful to have to enter a password every time this app opens. Please add Touch ID. Thank you. Update to my review 8 months later: From a recent update to the app, it no longer logs you out when the app closes. So, when you open the app again, it resumes where you were ... logged in. This means you don’t have to type in a password every time. This may sound good, but it is not secure. This means that anyone who has your unlocked phone can get into the MobileLink app. What we need is Touch ID! The current solution is just a work-around. The little functionality provided in this app is not worth $100 per year.
