Took some time to set up, but managed it and looked promising. Nice screen and initially looking forward to using for the range is services. After download and confirmation of car, it’s never connected since! Screen shows internet not available! This is whilst I am using a Land Rover equivalent, which works each and every time for the last 3 years. This is a very poor app for a premium brand. What does work are emails selling more services! It is a 2019 Cooper Sport with Apple Car Play installed, Navigation etc. Will try and plug it via USB in the vehicle a last chance. Dissappointed to say the least at this stage. Perhaps all the reviews are correct 😫

So after reading negative reviews i was unsure whether it was worth downloading and trying this app with my mini cooper (2016). Well I’m glad i did because after a little perseverance it seems to be working well. The app allows me to pre-plan journeys on the maps on iphone and also stream Spotify/Amazon music (plus others available) via my iphone through the mini. Here’s what i did. I downloaded the mini drivers guide App first and created an account - linking my car to it. Then downloaded this connected app and logged in. It crashed or hung a few times but it let me login after a few attempts. But still was not going anywhere. However after plugging iphone into usb in the mini and logging in to app on iphone (and being in the mini connected screen in the car) it worked and allowed me to also sync calendar and contacts. It now seems to be fine. So YES it does work but you will have to persevere a little. Hope this helps.

Given all the bad reviews I thought I’d share my experiences. I’m using the app with my Countryman Phev and to begin with I couldn’t get any of the advanced features to show up. In the end I deleted the app and then added my car using the mini connected website, then when I logged in to the app the car was there along with advanced features like flashing the lights and door locking / unlocking. The updates for charge state can be really temperamental, usually it shows the charge state when first plugged in which doesn’t update until it’s fully charged, it would be nice if it showed more detail as charging progresses. Also, this app is gagging for Apple Watch functions, it would be great if my phone and watch alerted me once the car was fully charged or even at 50% and 75% as options. Overall I really like it, has lots of potential!

I’ve had my countryman SE plugin hybrid (from new) for over a year now and this app has failed every single time I’ve tried to set the charge and climatisation. As these are the only useful functions of the app and quite important to cycle up the battery during winter months I find it unbelievable that it still fails to work. This app is a selling point that Mini push on their brochures for this car, which is terrible considering how useless it is. Thanks Mini, I’m looking forward to getting up early to defrost the car in the morning... great selling point.

Wholly unreliable. It regularly decides to stop working or it stops recognising my phone. I can’t tell you the time I have wasted trying to get it to work, deleting and reinstalling my phone. Such a shame as it’s very good when it does work. Very frustrating that a car of this spec would have such useless on board technology. I wish I had never started using Car Play either as it’s also wholly unreliable and my car regularly decides that it shouldn’t work either. I wouldn’t bother wasting your time with it.
