Match Solitaire™

This game is very clever and elegant, the visuals are lovely and the sound effects are charming. It’s overall a very polished game. However, there are difficulty spikes in the game. They make you want to use power-ups. Though you can purchase powerups with coins, you don’t earn nearly enough per game. There’s a video ad between each game — not every five, or every three, but every one. The sound from the ads play even if the phone is on silent. Getting the no ads IAP (though I do appreciate it being there!) probably doesn’t make the coin earning any faster. It won’t feel like a premium game. If the currency was more generous or the powerups costed less, purchasing no-ads would feel like getting the premium version. As it stands, I reached level 50 and still didn’t have enough coins for anything. I believe the cheapest powerup is 200 coins. It’s understandable that powerups shouldn’t be given generously because each game can be won without, and it’s to encourage thinking instead of “cheating”, but by level 50 (50!) I expect to at least be able to afford a powerup. It’s really clever though. Not perfect, but beautiful and clever.

This game is a perfect mix of relaxing and mentally stimulating: it's very forgiving by allowing you unlimited undos, but still requires you to plan out your moves. The colors, sounds, and unique performer animal mascots are all soothing and complementary. There are a surprising number of rules and challenges that pop up as you progress, giving the game just the perfect amount of difficulty curve. I usually open it up expecting to play a couple of hands and find myself still playing after a dozen+. Magnifiqué!

Solitaire becomes mindless because it’s mostly the luck of the draw. Not so with this game, which combines the idea behind solitaire to make a challenging fun game. You start off thinking it’s easy and simple only to reach levels where strategy counts for the win. Hot Chai does it again. Great game!

As a big fan of this developer, I had the privilege of meeting this game in its early stages. It has since taken waaaay too many of my hours... #noregrets. It progresses nice and slow, and makes me feel like a winner over and over, so I keep coming back to be told how smart I am.

I absolutely love this game! The visual style is so chic! (I’m looking at you swinging stars!) The game itself is the perfect balance of getting to use your brain and be challenged without too much stress or frustration. I play every day!
