MAKING includes data from Nike MSI on widely used materials and allows users to rank them based on four key impact areas: Chemistry, Energy/Greenhouse Gas, Water/Land, and Physical Waste. The materials in MAKING are widely used in apparel, footwear and home goods. Each impact is weighted based on specific indicators, and each material included in MAKING is assigned a base material score. Materials are rated out of a possible 50 points with higher scores indicating a more positive environmental impact.
