The existence of this app is a blatant, thoughtless, and malicious attempt to mine consumer data. It creates an unneeded barrier between audiences and movies, forcing you to download a third party app, agree to a novella of fine print, and surrender your email before getting access to the movie that you purchased. If that wasn’t enough, the functionality of app itself is garbage; taking multiple attempts to read the QR and hologram codes. And after all that, it just kicks you back to iTunes to get the movie. Like... Lionsgate. Just let people scan their codes in iTunes! Live with the fact that you’re not going to snarf up every user’s email. They will actually appreciate you more for not having to sift through your deluge of spam. And for the love of everything holy... join movies anywhere! People like your movies and want to be able to watch them. I mean, you make movies where Keanu Reeves fights assassins with a horse! That’s amazing! But making people jump through hoops to see that amazingness is just going to create bad vibes for everyone involved. With apps like this, you’re hindering yourself from reaching the audience that supports you the most.

This blatant data grab app was written by subpar programmers for a studio hungry to exploit us. It doesn’t work. At all. Maybe Apple and Disney can get away with starting their own Netflix but Lionsgate is delusional if they think they’ll be amongst them. It seems like someone high up in the company who doesn’t understand tech at all, ordered this to be implemented. Either that, or Lionsgate actually wants to torture us for being interested in the worst of the John Wick movies. Strange, they didn’t seem to have a problem getting the first 2 movies out on digital without this ridiculous app, which is tantamount to a digital std. I’d recommend contacting Lionsgate support for help with it, however it would appear they don’t know anything about it either.

Only thing this app does is grab your info sees what you have and gives you recommendations based on your history. It’s just a data mining app in order to further sell you stuff and movies. Once you download it and sign in they have your data trail and then it kicks over to iTunes to redeem your movie. The best example of this is think of this app as the third middle person in the quest to get yourself a good sack of weed. Think of it like going to your cousin who has to go through his girlfriends brother to get to the seller for your stash. This app is the equivalent of being the girlfriends brother. Get your crap together and let us redeem our purchases directly with iTunes!

Zero stars was unavailable as a rating, or this would have it. The money spent on a movie that requires this app in order to redeem a movie is just the beginning — Redemption of a digital copy requires access to your camera, agreeing to future ongoing spam (can’t say no and get your movie), and strongly suggests your location should be known to them. This reeks of desperation on Lionsgate's part to harvest as much unearned marketing data as possible. I set up an email account for this one time redemption and immediately deleted it and the app after. They’ll get info from me still probably, but it won’t be quite the slam dunk they want. It will also be my last Lionsgate movie purchase.

I agree with the other reviewers that this is a blatant data grab. UltraViolet, and now Movies Anywhere, made the whole digital video experience decent. At this point the expectation of what a digital copy entailed was pretty much standardized, and the process for redeeming it was flexible and easy. Lionsgate has managed to throw that entire system into question with this app. If they think this app is acceptable to force onto their customers then I will no longer buy any more Lionsgate movies. My hope is none of the other studios adopt a similar scheme and ruin what has been a pretty good arrangement. Bonus points if Lionsgate’s stock suffers a hit for going on this fool’s adventure.
