I’ve funded many projects half of which never shipped for years. Kickstarter doesn’t protect you in any way. Be cautious

I love that this app gives people a chance to launch their dreams. What I don’t love is that more and more products are becoming scams. One Kickstarter I backed raised over a million dollars. And then they disappeared. No updates no product. The Kickstarter team doesn’t stand behind you so every dollar you give them has a 50/50 chance of being scammed out of your wallet. When I complained to Kickstarter I got an email back telling me that I didn’t buy a product. I invested in a business. I understand that. I also understand that businesses fail and some ideas get nowhere. However, when you have a “company” that is blatantly ignoring the Kickstarter terms of service and they refuse to look into it. Well that’s when I am done. The sad thing is there are many great products and companies out there using it to create amazing products. If you have the money to lose go for it. Just assume the money is gone once you spend it because one you hand over the money you are completely on your own.

Kickstarter didn’t offer any support or protect your money when you back a project. You risk privacy leak also because they don’t manage sensitive information.
