Jalup Kana

First off, I like the pace of this App. A brief intro to each section followed by exercises and quiz. I also like that it is organized by alphabet progression. My brain absorbs info faster with this layout. A huge appreciation to the developers b/c not only is the App free but there are NO Ads!!! /Backflip for that! I noticed comments about the lack of intuition of the UI. It’s super simple...just tap the picture to start a new lesson. The picture covers 2/3 of the screen...meaning, the picture is huge. And the picture represents the kana of the lesson. Perhaps the developers could place a watermark on the picture of the lessons kana (in Romani = a, ka, sa etc ??) or superimpose the ideogram on the picture. Personally, I do not have a problem with the UI and find navigation of the Jalup Kana App easy to use. Thank you for this helpful App.

I’ve tried a few apps and even flash cards. This app helps to keep things varied enough but still track what you are having difficulty with. It will keep past work in your rotation to keep you from getting lazy and will bring forward what needs the most focus during each session.

This a a simple and effective app without extraneous bells and whistles. What I mainly love is that it’s one of the very few game-like apps to learn the Japanese alphabet that does NOT force you to use a timer. I strongly dislike how most apps do that and it makes me get answers wrong for stuff I do know just because I’m stressed from the counter (which they always set way too fast).

I thought I’d try this for 1 minute but got so hooked, I couldn’t stop playing until I’d finished half the Kana. What a great way to learn. I love this app!

This app lacks so much compared to other apps currently available on the App Store. This app only allows you to see and hear the characters, unless you have a photographic memory it is impossible to memorize the characters this way. Other apps quiz you by letting select or write the characters and then continue to quiz you over time to make sure you have learned them. The one good thing I see about this app is that it is currently free.
