We regularly sail offshore and use our iridium pretty heavily. I understand the speed and am ok with that. What I find incredibly frustrating is how poor the applications are written. The messaging app constantly reorders all the MSS messages, making the conversation unreadable. It always puts all the sender’s messages at the bottom of the conversation, bumping all the recipients at the top of the displayed conversation. This destroys the sequence of the conversation. This is a basic QA failure!! The mail and web apps have horrible connection logic, with little error handling and no connection retry on failure. This is short sided for a satellite device. Unfortunately, there is no alternative to the sms app. I’ve purchased third party connectivity apps to replace mail and web.

Iridium your programmers were drunk when they wrote this app!!. Extremely pore development went into the design. Not to mention lots of bugs. It crashes randomly. No need to have separate applications for mail by the way! For as much money as this cost get with the developmental program!! An 11 year old child can build a cleaner slicker interface that works!! Get the snake out of your pocket and build a better app for this device! Just think we have assisted self driving cars and satellites in space that we communicate with. Amazing tech however when a customer uses an Iridium Go device and launches the deplorable app customer can’t use the satellite technology because of a lousy developer and a lack of care by iridium for allowing it to be eligible for download. Also did mention there hasn’t been any updates!!!??? When you build an app only driven piece of hardware your user interface is extremely important!!!! Small bugs I can understand as an app developer but fundamental rookie mistakes and lack of attention to detail are not acceptable. Build it the right way or don’t do it at all. If you buy one of these devices better have an old iPhone to use it.

This app will not work with my iPhone 6 Plus, even after extensive tech support. It will work, and works well, with my old iPhone 5. If Iridium fixes the compatibility issue soon, I will change the rating to 5 stars.

It's all hooked up for both of us and we found some reviews that had the same experience we've had and the real problem is super slow data. We did get a couple of iridium e's to go thru but great delays and now the apps are frozen on both of our iPads and even deleting them and reinstalling them doesn't unfreeze them. There's no way this is going to work trying to fight both the super slow data and the app in this state of development. Support from the seller was attempted with 2 trips across town and 8-10 hrs. of effort to make it work to no avail.

Got an Iridium go for one reason, so the boss could keep in touch through texting in the back of the Sovereign jet. Works great! Set the unit without the external antenna next to the aft cockpit window. Battery lasts a long time, way longer than we fly per day. Other option, an STC install--$150,000.
