I used this app to transfer money only once, they are the worst ever. The app isn’t allowing you to log in, asking you to upgrade, then you upgrade and still get the same message or another pop up message says “sorry, we are having issues, working on resolving blah blah, try again”. This second message is happening for several months now. Then they ask you to write an email to nri@icicibank or call them. People who are picking up the phone have no idea what they are talking about. There is so much of disconnect between different departments. Sometimes they call you when it’s middle of the night or 3 am here in United States. Are they expecting to pickup their phone at that time? Every call agent keep giving different story about your money. I had the horrid experience of my (one and only) money transfer that took 4 weeks. They kept making different stories where my money was, my patience gave up after 3 weeks of no action at their end and decided to stop taking to Indian customer support agents in English (that’s what they prefer) and showed them how much Hindi and Punjabi curses I still know. Then finally in the fourth week, money landed in receivers account.

Multiple issues with the mobile app and even more with ICICI NRI customer service. Calls are rudely auto-disconnected, with a message saying it’s a very busy time asking a call back at other non-busy times ?! Faster express money transfer in 1-2 days promised and sold in deceptive advertisements online but takes 5 business days or more for credit to even ICICI accounts that were previously used. It’s hit or miss. When you call, there is some excuse or rule or some backend feature that need to be enabled for quick transfer but its done by business and only on their own, etc. In total, a very very mediocre product built around an abysmally inferior service nearly fraudulent, taking money from customer with rate-lock but in truth, customer funds are locked-out to exploit forex rate-spread before mobey is credited to beneficiary, almost hawala-like, except now customer knows ICICI is taking the spread! Very disappointing and bordering fraud.

If your an American, find another way. I have great friends in India that I have known since college. Tried to help a nonprofit in their community. I sent money back before March, it’s almost the end of May, and it’s still not there.. Was called multiple times by employee to Verify my info, who I was, then promptly was hung up on. Had to share questionable information as a US citizen that they advise not to share on their web site for them selves. Multiple emails to of photos verifying the money had come from my account.. once again, having to reveal details they requested of me, but they advise not to for their own people on the site. Multiple chat sessions (take photos of them) You can’t talk to a person in the US if you trying to just send money. How hard can it be. I had a legitimate bank account in my name or you never would have received the money to begin with, take a fee, and deliver the money whom I am sending to.. simple job. 3 months later the non profit that really could use the help, still isn’t getting the help. If your an American, find another way, no customer service, very poorly run banking system... ***Stay Away**

I can’t believe that a bank from India, a land famous for its software developers, has such a pathetic website and mobile app. I had a hard time using the website since it’s been logging me out every time I click on a link. So I thought of trying to use the app and it’s even worse. It’s not allowing me to login saying that I need to upgrade the app to the latest version. But I just downloaded the app and I have the latest version. Dude, you guys gotta get your act together man. I would really like to know who developed your software. It’s a freaking joke!! I am not sure if I wanna stick with you guys or find a different provider. Anyway, good luck finding a better software development team to develop your app and website!!

The Money to INDIA app is very useful and I am extremely satisfied and it is very simple to use. I have not tried adding any beneficiaries or making any profile changes on the app but the process of sending money is very simple if the beneficiary and source of money are already configured in the account. Another good thing is that the app does not sign you out if you navigate away from the screen to look at the messages when OTP is sent.
