This application allows the user to quickly query and view Hazmat Incidents recently reported to the U.S. Department of Transportation. Industries regulated by Department of Transportation's PHMSA (Pipeline and Hazardous Material Safety Administration) Office are required to report incidents which meet or exceed established reporting criteria. Incidents listed in this app are from the detailed incident reports required within 30 days of a reported incident while transporting Hazardous Material by Aircraft, Highway, Train or Vessel. Incidents in this app can be filtered by any combination of : those that are deemed serious by the PHMSA, undeclared shipments, incident location, or reported result. The reported result can include but is not limited to fire, explosion, evacuation, fire/ems response, an injury or fatality occurred, material was spilled, damage more than $500 and toxic inhalation hazards were involved. The Incidents list can be quickly sorted by : date (most recent), the hazardous material's UN#, damage total dollar amt or grouped by state. Users may also search the list by the material's UN#. The viewable detail of each incident includes: a map, incident cause, shipper & carrier names, a result summary and material specific information. Information is available for materials that are listed in the NIOSH Pocket Guide and Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG). Data presented includes material physical descriptions, synonyms, IDLH, incompatible/reactive materials and the corresponding ERG guide's name/number. Damages may contain a breakdown of the remediation cleanup cost, material loss, carrier damage amount and response costs. Please note that the proper location of the Incident on the Map depends on an accurate address being provided by the reporter. Data updates, listed on the Overview tab, can be downloaded periodically by the user through the application as it becomes available.
