Initially impressed that they needed so much verification as it seemed very legit but that quickly went out the window as within about 30 seconds of joining I got a message from a creepy bloke trying to chat me up (at 8.15am). I decided to persevere and the app itself was also pretty bad - it's almost impossible to search by location as most rooms have London as their location rather than the suburb. I tried searching with the map but rooms disappear randomly as you zoom in and out. Just get spare room if you're looking for a specific area.

I found this app super useful when finding a place in Berkeley, CA. The app has a great layout and is easy to navigate; the map layout is an especially great feature for someone new to the area. Something to note: although it was easy to communicate with potential housemates, with the app linking into your email function, a number of the postings on Roomi are pulled directly from Craigslist and other property advertising sites. This meant frequently those advertising were unaware that their posts were featuring on Roomi. Not a huge problem, but made for one or two odd interactions. There are a few fine details still need to be ironed out on the app, which will no doubt happen with any future updates, but all in all a great app which I would (& have) recommended.

As an actor living in London and having to constantly look around for a room or housemate, this is invaluable. I live with other actors/directors who are away or on tour for a few months and we use this app to find their replacement. It’s really useful to find a housemate who fits in with all our habits and lifestyle and Roomi is a great way of ensuring that.

Very off putting experience of using this app, I was asked to offer so much personal data before browsing the rooms. It made me feel like registering dating app rather than room seeking app. But there are very small options of rooms in London, so I deleted this app in one hour. Also please notice that Taiwan is NOT the province of China. The selection of country was really lack of research. Design looks good but the function was not for me.

Really good app and I found it much easier to use than the other spare room sites. All the listings are presented in an easy-to-view manner and the filters make it really easy to find a property that’s right for you. I will now be moving to London with my newly found roommate :)
