In addition to my standard Milady textbook, forget to study it at your own peril, I considered all the extra study options I could find because I was determined to pass the written exam even with my memory issues. Because you will receive a random test which can be one of many versions the testing centers use, I wanted to be as thoroughly prepared as possible. I tried a few other apps that were just ok, then discovered Esthetician Exam Center. EEC delivered the most realistic, comprehensive and current testing info available, cross platform. I read that the highly experienced esthetician who created the app is also an educator who worked for “Milady”, the publisher of the Standard Esthetic and Cosmetology textbooks. If you’re serious, get the $9.99 unlimited version and take as many of the exams as you have time for over and over. I did that and am certain that is what pushed my knowledge retention over the edge. This crew is dedicated. I asked a question of the app developer and had a response within an hour. On a Sunday. Hello and thank you. The app is no frills, straightforward and easy to use anywhere...it was just what I needed to help me ace the real test in record time. So many thanks EEC!

I found out I had 3 days to study for my test and this app has made it so easy on the go. I paid the monthly service of ~$10 which is worth it. There are 5 practice tests that have 110 questions. It also has a spot from questions you got wrong for you to practice. AND it also has specific chapters which is fantastic!! It’s like the milday pro practice but in an app with REAL explanations instead of repeating the question at you. Highly suggest it. And if you do buy tests I suggest doing the monthly deal. It’s soooo worth it

The positive- In general , I would use this app as a review guide for the absolute basics that may be on the test so I guess in that way it is kind of helpful as a light refresher. The app also runs very smooth without any complications so that’s a positive . The negative - the questions are worded way to simple of a manor. I took the state board exam and it was far more complicated and worded in a way that was much more confusing . There were many things on the exam pertaining to chemistry, anatomy, biology, and further much more in depth science questions. It would have been nicer to have more variety of questions to go over those sections in more in detail but it’s okay . Also there are no questions that help you review the Appearance Enhancement - by the Department of State and there are approximately 10-15 questions on the actual exam that reference it so it would have been helpful to see that. It would have been cool to been able to create your own quizzes through the app as well because as I previously stated it does run very smooth so it was a pleasure to use however it genuinely didn’t really help much in the actual preparation for the state board exam itself . I’d give the app a 1.5 but a 1 star is too low and I don’t think it was that bad . Your better off reviewing the notes you have learned from school instead of using the app in my opinion .

I’m not going to lie, I was kind of skeptical about using this app because I thought I wasn’t going to pass my esthetics exam. I recently been using the app for 2-3 weeks prior to my exam date. I PASSED MY ESTHETICS STATE BOARD EXAM!! Despite me graduating from the Esthetician program almost a year ago. This app has helped me study so much for the exam. All I needed was a refresher on what I learned in school. I knew most of the answer and I like how it shows you what answers you got wrong. It also gives you the answer with the description. The spelling of some Q&A of this app is a little off but as long as you understand it , It doesn’t matter. This is a good app to use to study for your exam. I recommend this app.

I learned about this app after taking the state board test the first time when I didn’t pass it. I studied using this app for over two months and passed it the second time just last week! I highly recommend this app. There were several questions almost exactly like on the app that were on the test that I took. I learned even more information about Esthetics from this app that I didn’t learn in school.
