There needs to be a way to seperately set or mute the volume for extraneous sounds (the bells, whistles, clapping , etc) when there is a correct answer. The volume needs to be fairly high to hear the questions clearly (for some reason they are read in different accents). However, this makes the other noises, music, sounds seem VERY loud. My noise sensitive child covers her ears every time she gets an answer right and I get annoyed with these sounds when they are doing the program in the car. Also, the “affirmation noises” (especially the clapping one) seems to go on far too long. A nice little ding, or a voice saying “correct” should be sufficient. I will adjust my review as these issues are addressed.

This app is excellent and works as advertised. My 5 year old son and 8 year old daughter really had fun doing math with this app. The developer is very responsive to questions and even called me personally. Reading the other reviews I think some people didn’t get it. This curriculum is created custom for your child and is presented as a game. The child can change the games theme/skin at any time, but the content is the same. My 5 year old son loved the submarine theme, and the cool reward icons that show up after each problem. My 8 year old daughter choose the unicorn theme for her games. 1. The animal / character icons are just different themes, not levels and not different content. 2. The experience is seamless even when you change themes. 3. The whole thing starts with an assessment, so my kids were shown both familiar and new concepts. The app customizes the content for each child based on their initial assessment and ongoing scores. Overall I am very satisfied with the product and the support. The developer was responsive, polite and very professional.

I’m really loving this app. My kid has shown huge improvement, and the app has helped fill in some of the gaps in his learning, making him much more fluent in math. As a homeschooler, I find this an invaluable resource. My kid is not loving the app so very much. The “games” are basically like interactive worksheets. Not as fun as other math game apps, but much more thorough and effective. But we’ve discussed that he can survive 10min of just about anything, so he does his work without much complaint, often while we’re driving to a fun activity. I anticipate using this program for a long time.

I have an 8 and 12 year old and both love doing Elephant Math. Great concept teaching and great for learning the theory behind the math, not just rote memorization of times tables and other facts, really helps them understand what math problem MEAN. Love it!! Only suggestions: find a way to hide their Elephant Age or reframe it as Elephant Score because it is discouraging to kids to see they are behind. Also, for kids with difficult to pronounce names there is a pronounciation adjustment feature (which is so thoughtful) but we never could get it to pronounce my daughters name right. Now she just giggles at the pronounciations. Lol!

I thought this would be at least engaging for young children (my son is in Kindergarten) but in my experience it’s extremely repetitive and boring. It keeps asking the same questions that my son has correctly answered, and asks him to repeat the same skill. Repetition can be important, but in this app it’s beyond excessive. My son would get really annoyed with it and wouldn’t want to use it. I ended up signing him up for ABCmouse and I was much more impressed with their ability to make the content engaging by continually challenging my son. The math games in ABCmouse are far superior, and I see the connection to the standards (I’m a certified elementary teacher). Further, the assessment on ABCmouse and the parent dashboard is much better in comparison. The price of this app and what it offers just doesn’t add up for me.
