Dungeoning: Epic Idle RPG

Honestly this game is pretty decent - lots of content, fun mechanics (once you figure them out), and an enjoyable incremental progression system. It also doesn’t beat you over the head with micro transactions, and it doesn’t seem P2W. There’s just a few issues that really make it frustrating right now: 1. The equipment experience is atrocious - no other way to put it. You can’t easily compare items in inventory with what is being worn. You have to drag and drop items to equip, rather than just double click or even having an equip button on the item details screen. It’s just not user friendly at all - biggest complaint right here. 2. Don’t be afraid to gate content behind progression! Right now after the tutorial you open every section to the player, and frankly it’s too much - just overwhelming. Lock some screens behind progression milestones and it gives the player more reason to play, and slowly introduces new experiences to them. 3. The info screens are helpful, but I’d recommend a slightly longer tutorial. Three or four steps just isn’t enough. If you do #2 above, you can also just introduce each new feature when it’s unlocked, rather than all at the beginning. All that being said, it has a lot of potential and doesn’t seem like a cash grab! I’d love to see it succeed and will gladly change my rating with a few tweaks. Good luck and good job so far :)

This game’s chock full of so much fun. I am just starting to scratch the surface of it. This is the perfect game that you can play in short bursts (in line getting coffee) and still have a good session, but then also spend hours and hours mining it’s depth. Best of both worlds! The art style is charming and amazingly detailed for pixel art. I can tell already that this is a game I’m going to be playing for a long time.

When I saw this project on Twitter I thought it would a super fun game. I didn’t know it was going to be an idle RPG. I was hoping for a story and more gameplay. Maybe I just don’t like idle games but this was not interesting enough to hold my interest after a few days. Some of the mechanics don’t make sense, and there’s really not much besides “kill monsters, manage equipment, level up.” Repeat ad nauseum. If idle games are your thing, this is very pretty to look at and there seems to be a lot to do in terms of equipment, crafting, etc. Guess it’s not my thing.

Very charming game, reminds me of the classic pixel-art RPGs I played back in the day. Fun to check in on a couple times a day and see all the loot and new skills I’ve unlocked. Looking forward to more levels and big bad boss monsters!

Do you like literal linear play? Do you like playing an RPG where you have no control over your character creation, where you go, and what you fight? Do you like a game fight monster after monster? Where you cannot do anything else? Then Dungeoning is the game for you! Seriously, that’s the game. You begin as “Cameron” fighting a monster. Kill it and walk 10 feet to another monster. And no, you don’t have ANY control over any of this, you’re character just keeps walking straight into new monsters, fights on auto, and repeat. But, there’s plenty of gear you can buy! So there’s that. A more blatant attempt to squeeze money from wallets has yet to be made. At least other games give you fun content and a reason to spend your real-world dollars. The chuckleheads who made this must have been so high when they birthed this idea.
