Dungeon Master 2K

First, I’m really happy that someone has attempted to bring DM to the iPhone! That said, there are some bugs in this version that will make fans of the original frustrated. The game is very stable - after several hours of playing, it’s yet to fully crash on me. Sometimes, though, I’ll run away from a monster and sleep; when I come back, I can’t step on the square where I last encountered the monster because the game thinks it’s still in that spot. Many of the monsters look like screamers - worms, ghosts... it’s massively confusing. Sometimes I can’t put a coin in a slot. It just won’t go in. So, it has potential. Keep working on it, please!

DM was one of my favorite PC games growing up. I was reintroduced when it was available on one of my NES systems (Super NES maybe?). I was initially excited to discover it on here...a few repeat complaints: playing on an iPad with a keyboard attachment, the screen is upside down. I’ve made it to a few areas that I can’t seem to get past: 1) In “Time Is of the Essence”, it seems no matter how quickly I press the button on the wall and run to reveal the false wall a few steps down, I can’t get there in time. From what I remember, I don’t think I need all 6 gold keys, so I continued on; 2) But now I’m at the next level, where there is an ax on the floor and I’m supposed to break down the closed door. I’ve been chopping away to no avail; 3) Is anyone gaining experience? My players have not seemed to gain any levels as a fighter, ninja, priest, or wizard since I started. Considering I’ll be facing those dreaded worms if I can’t break down this door, I’m sure to die a quick death at my players’ current levels!

A devoted Dungeon Master player from several lifetimes back on my Atari ST, I love to be able to go back and retrace my path through the game. That said the transfer to OS doesn’t seem finished. With no information with the app I’ve needed my memory to know how to play helped by some DM fan sites on the net. (Original had a guide book to get you started) Down to 4th level so far and seems to be an exact copy of the original. Touch screen interface is difficult at times and I will report a few bugs. On level 2, “time is of the essence” area, cannot get past timed wall. This is with even dropping everything so characters can move at best speed. Note: solving for this is not required to finish that game. At water stations, clicking on water allows far left character to drink regardless of which one is last selected. Other characters can only drink from water skins. Some monsters such as worms are depicted by “screamer” images. Hopefully there will be an update soon.

First, Screen orientation. Playing on iPad Pro with keyboard connected. The screen is upside down. You have to disconnect the keyboard and hold the game to play. VERY ANNOYING. Second, Swiping to turn left or right, and up and down is annoying. Please add buttons to the on-screen directional movement keys. Even better, add keyboard shortcuts, so those of use with keyboards can play (just like on the Amiga/Atari in the good old days. Third, As a previous poster mentioned, there is a bug when drinking water out of fountains. Only the first character can drink, the others have to use the water bottles/water skins. Annoying and time consuming. Fourth, App support link isn’t working. Goes to facebook with the message “The link you followed may be broken, or the page may have been removed.” I’ll wait for updates to these issues before I continue to play.

Bug report 1. Reincarnation is supposed to set any character levels back to 0. It currently does not. 2. Name selection UI is buggy. 3. If you try to put a key into the wrong keyhole the UI simply drops the key out of view without any warning... this needs improvement.(not a bug really). 4. Couldn’t get the solid key to go in it’s proper keyhole so game was stuck at that point (yes I’m sure I was at the correct keyhole). Now a few things are missing all together like a tab designating leadership ie who’s drinking/ throwing items. A quit option in-game would be handy. All I can think of off the top of my head I haven’t played it much yet. Hope this helps I love DM good luck!
