The wireless adapters need to connect to the cloud by default. Most customers won’t understand being on a local network or away when trying to manage the device. Scheduling settings takes options away like power mode and fan settings. There are times you have a schedule, but want to change a specific setting for temporary uses. This app doesn’t allow for that. The scheduling of a particular setting is very tedious if you want to make a change. You have to change each setting on each day for every unit, not practical. Might as well not use a schedule and just do it manual every morning and night, much faster. This app needs a lot of work, company needs to hire the developers of Nest.

I have been struggling with this app for two plus years in every way described by the other reviewers. The app is still on version 1.0! I routinely have to reinstall each unit because the app cannot find them, and when it does work, the signal has to beam up to a satellite and back through my WiFi to each unit because the “in home” function does not work. It has never worked. And it’s not a problem with my WiFi because everything else on it runs effortlessly. I wish I had gotten actual central air and just had the ducts built inside my home. At least it would work the way I need it to in the way I paid for. This now feels like a costly mistake. I will gladly amend this review if Daikin ever fixes the problem. Until then, I would not recommend using their products on WiFi. If you only use it when you are there to point and click the remote, and you have no animals or people at home who need you to manage the climate control for them, it should be fine.

I have two Nest thermostats, a Bryant thermostat for a heat pump, and a variety of different home automation including a dozen Insta Jan and several Nest products. So I am no stranger to how these products ought to work and I’m comfortable programming them. This one baffles me. I can’t tell what temperature the room is, when the unit is heating and when it is not, or how to set a reliable heating mode. The unit seems to be on constantly even though the temperature in the room is very warm. The manual is very brief and completely unhelpful. The remote is far easier to use than the app and seems to have all the functionality one would want. I feel like I wasted my money on remote access. I can currently only use the app when I am on the same Wi-Fi. When I try to set up the “out of home” account, it indicates that my user ID is in use and no matter what user IDs I come up with.

If you want to control your head units via a mobile app, and your network is mostly “standard”, this app will likely work. BUT, the security of the app (and entire system as a whole) is incredibly poor due to unsecured endpoints (some including user credentialed) and its tendency to phone home. It also will not work if your head units are on a different subnet than the device you're attempting to use to control them. I reached out to support for help with the subnet issue and was told that they do not work with homeowners, and to contact an HVAC contractor. Seeing as this is in the application and networking domain, an HVAC contractor will not be very useful. If you’re hinging your decision on Daikin based on having up to date software and keeping your security in mind, I would recommend you look elsewhere for your HVAC needs.

It works, but lacks features available on my Emura wall units. Specifically comfort mode and outside unit quiet mode. DAIKIN - Please add options for comfort mode to allow the intelligent eye to function as intended. Currently I’m only able to enable this feature from the IR handheld units that came with my system. When I change settings via the app - my IR handheld controller LCD’s no longer displays the current settings. DAIKIN - Please offer two-way handheld units that always display the current settings of its paired unit/system as an add-on upgrade. The app does show outside temperatures which is great! Although - the internal temp is read from the air intake of the unit, so it fluctuates a bit more than I would like. It really would benefit from a more accurate temperature reading via room averaging or even an external thermostat that could be placed strategically in your room. That said, the app is very functional for all the basic settings and allows remote control even when I’m at the office.
