Color Noir・Black Coloring Book

when i tell y’all i am SO excited to use this app! for years i always liked to do color/paint by number during my free time, and i always noticed that the coloring apps would either barely or never have black people or our culture featured in any section. that always sat in the back of my mind and kinda made me upset. i’m sure the app developers know that people all races use their apps, so why not represent all races within that app? why not support those who support you, you feel me? out of all of the coloring apps i would play, i never saw a single picture with my people or my color in there. it made me feel left out, and like i was being used. that is until i came across THIS coloring app, and this sudden wave of warmth and excitement just washed over me. finally, the representation we deserve and need! 🙌🏾 i just wanna thank the app developers for making this, you made my whole week! i’ll be playing this for the rest of my life!

I am often traveling state to state for work and have hours to kill on my train or plane commute. So I was browsing through the app store, and came across this amazing new creation. This app is a blast and images they have are really unique with a lot of detail that lets you experiment with a wide assorment of colors. You can stick to just a couple color pallets (I like the challenge) or go completely crazy and use them all. It’s taken me as long as three hours or more to complete one pic. The two things I like most is the fact that they have plenty of patterns to choose from, and they don’t try and shove an upgrade down your throat in the middle of working on a design. I also appreciate that they don’t have pop up ads (as far as I can tell) I see myself continuing with this app for a long time to see what else they have coming down the pipe. So if you need a fun, new way to relax (just trust me... I didn't think so either) or have some time to kill on your hands I would highly recommend trying it out! More fun than an old school block party, and you heard it here first!

Thank you for this brilliant app!!! I’m always using my iPad to draw/color digital art on different coloring apps but could never find anything that represents us. So, I would usually color the digital art and make the characters black even though their features were not. I got tired of the lack of representation and decided to search for black owned coloring books to download for iPad. That’s when your article popped up and I got too excited. I never knew something like this existed before and I wished I would have found this app sooner instead of wasting my time and money on those other apps.

First off, REPRESENTATION MATTERS! I am so in love with the designs, the people, the patterns and the inclusivity Color Noir offers. It is so refreshing to tell therapy clients about this app and to be able to create pieces dripping in melanin & with so many shades to choose from, there truly is something for everyone here! I personally downloaded Color Noir for myself and for Art Therapy usage. When the developers say “all ages” they mean it. I really enjoy the complexities of some of the pieces but also love that there are less challenging ones for my 9 year old to create as well. This is also my favorite “Miss, do you have games on your phone?” App to pass around to my nieces and nephews. It has been a life saver at several BBQ’s this summer and the parents (myself included) didn’t feel like we were handing off our child a device for a parenting break, resting assure that this is one of the “Good Apps”. I strongly encourage you to download this app for yourself or the young people in your life, you won’t be disappointed!!!

I can say I love this app because representation is important. However, I do have another coloring app (which I am tired of and looking to switch over) they have little representation of black people in general but, they have more tools to use for coloring also different options like removing the lines or changing the color of the lines, they also have the option to change opacity when using a color so you can shade as you please (it’s the same price). They also have a community in the app to view other people work and follow them. Maybe adding more options for users would be great. I will definitely support, but please consider adding more for users.
